Counterfeit tickets can be a real problem, and the last thing you want is to get all the way to the gates only to find you can’t get in. It seems Disney is working on a way to make counterfeit tickets a thing of the past thanks to a new patent.

The Orlando Business Journal has located a new patent that seeks to put an end to fraudulent Disney tickets being used at the gate. Disney Enterprises, Inc., a subsidiary, filed a patent titled, “Systems and Methods to Produce a Physical Article that Provides Admission Authorization to an Event Which Correlates to a Digital Asset from a Temporary Wallet.”

Disney is utilizing blockchain technology (which authenticates payments) to digitally guarantee Disney tickets. Essentially, the ticketing transaction will be protected by being directly written into digital code.

With this method, the data would not be able to be tampered with, giving buyers peace of mind when purchasing tickets. The patent also indicates buyers will be able to print physical versions of tickets.

Sports Illustrated Tickets and Live Nation France have adopted similar technologies in hopes of preventing counterfeit tickets from impacting buyers. As for now, there’s no indication of when this new tech might be implemented, but we’ll let you know of any updates.
