Calling all Disney+ and Hulu subscribers! This post is for you.
And, unfortunately, it’s not necessarily good news. Back in October 2023, Disney announced that they would begin changing Disney+’s terms and agreements when it came to password sharing. The change restricted a Disney+ account to only one household. Now, Hulu is set to join Disney.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hulu sent an email to subscribers on January 31st that notified them of updated subscriber agreements. Included was an update that explicitly bars sharing accounts outside of the user’s household starting March 14th.
The email read, “Unless otherwise permitted by your Service Tier, you may not share your subscription outside of your household. ‘Household’ means the collection of devices associated with your primary personal residence that are used by the individuals who reside therein.”
This doesn’t come as much of a surprise, as Disney recently acquired the rest of the shares in Hulu, meaning that Disney now owns the platform. This also follows the beta launch of the streaming bundle including the two platforms, and probably precedes an official launch, which is set to come out in early 2024.
