Breeze Airways first caught everyone’s interest when they leaped onto the scene with affordable airfare for those looking to travel to Orlando International Airport. Now, it appears the company has done so well, they’ve got BIG plans in store for Orlando including a new base, MORE routes, and even a few new destinations according to their most recent announcement!

According to an article by Simple Flying, the American-based low-fare airline, Breeze Airways, is expanding its operation by announcing plans for a new crew base in Orlando, Florida. In addition to the new base, Breeze Airways also announced it would be adding 11 new routes to its existing network. These plans for the new base in Orlando will be effective just shy of the 2-year mark of when Breeze first expanded their flights to Central Florida.

Starting on April 1st, 2024, the self-proclaimed “Nice Low-Cost Carrier,” Breeze Airways will officially open its eighth crew base at Orlando International Airport (MCO). The airline has increased its presence significantly since starting service out of Orlando in June 2022, with the airport now representing 13% of Breeze’s total departures projected for this coming June, which is expected to result in a 2,600% increase. The plans are for both pilots and flight attendants to be based at MCO, while “technical operations will establish a presence” later in 2024.

Come spring, Breeze intends to add service to three new cities– introducing seasonal and year-round flights. Even more ambitious, the airline company also plans to offer more transcontinental frequencies.

Flights to Mobile, Alabama will begin April 10th, 2024, while the Greenville-Spartanburg flights are to begin May 24th, 2024.

Breeze’s Founder and CEO, David Neeleman, released a statement praising the Orlando operations, stating, “It’s thrilling that Orlando will become Breeze’s eighth base of operations this spring after just two years of operations. These new flights to South Carolina and Alabama will surely be welcomed as we bring efficient, affordable, and elevated travel to more underserved markets.”

If you thought that was all for Breeze, well, it appears they’ve got even bigger plans on the horizon! The previously talked about new routes from MCO will feed into plans for a larger expansion nationwide. Breeze intends to launch service to nine other routes, connecting existing destinations for the airline, along with a third new city – Denver, Colorado. Airline service to Denver is set to begin on May 16th, 2024, when Breeze joins the ranks of challenging United Airlines and Southwest Airlines, who currently share the most passengers traveling here.
