Why ‘Harry Potter’ Fans Are Mad at Uber Eats

It’s the holiday season, and that means it’s time to celebrate with delicious seasonal goodies!

Hogwarts Castle at Christmas

Whether you’re heading to the theme parks to try out limited-time snacks or baking treats at home, there are plenty of Christmasy eats out there just waiting to be eaten! One of those special holiday offerings comes to us from Uber Eats — but sadly, many people have had a difficult time securing the festive snacks.

A few days ago, Uber Eats announced that it would be releasing a Wizarding World Holiday Trunk in select cities in the U.S. and Canada. This Harry Potter-themed box comes with a variety of goodies, including a Hogwarts Castle gingerbread kit, several cookies, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans, a Chocolate Frog, and more.

The trunk sells for $49.99 and was available to purchase in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Jersey, New York, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, Washington D.C., Toronto, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. However, its release has caused quite the stir on the internet — many people who ordered the trunk made it all the way through the ordering process (including payment!) just to have their orders canceled.

If you check Uber Eats’s posts about the trunk, you’ll find dozens of comments from upset customers. So if you tried to order the Harry Potter box and your order was rejected — you’re not alone! It’s a shame because it looks like a pretty unique and fun holiday gift.

We’ll be on the lookout to see if Uber Eats releases any more of these trunks, so stay tuned to AllEars.

  1. I tried here in Seattle. From the moment it went live I ordered, under 30 seconds, didn’t even turn 12:01. Got one. All looked fine for 15 minutes. Then they canceled it. I tried again, same thing. Canceled. When I spoke to support they said the merchant never had the boxes in store to deliver & said they were sorry.

So they hyped boxes they never had to break kids hearts. My sons wanted that box for some holiday fun. They’re disappointed and I am too.
