Fall time in Florida may bring lower temperatures, but there’s another risk that rises.

Fall time in Disney World can bring lower crowds on certain days, new menu items, and cooler temperatures (…eventually). However, the changing season also brings a larger risk of black bears as they prepare to hibernate for the winter months. If you’re traveling to Florida soon, here’s how you can keep yourself safe from black bears.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission is reminding Florida visitors that black bears are more active during the fall months because they’re on the hunt for food.

You can help prevent negative interactions with bears by securing garbage, removing food attractants (including bird feeders and pet food), cleaning and storing grills, and alerting neighbors to any bear activity you witness. While black bears are not particularly aggressive, they can injure people and pets.

Bugs are another potential threat in Florida, as you should always avoid touching hairy bugs and know when lovebug season is about to hit so you’re prepared. Stay tuned to AllEars for all the latest Florida wildlife safety tips and news!

Have you ever encountered a bear? Let us know below!

I recently returned from Yellowstone and they sell Bear Spray for visitors to fend off the bears. Don’t know if it works. It is expensive too. $49 for a single can.
