The summertime usually means big crowds in Disney World.
It’s summer vacation — kids are out of school and people take off work, which means longer lines in the parks usually. We’ve been seeing high wait times and crowds recently, but there have been times when it’s not too bad. However, today, the crowds are OUT in Disney World!
It is very busy in Disney World today — this morning, we already noticed some big crowds at the Transportation and Ticket Center while we were heading to Magic Kingdom.
Even the ferry boat was getting a pretty long line!
Then, when we arrived outside of Magic Kingdom, we saw HUGE lines.
Seriously, there are a bunch of people trying to get into this park today.
Inside, Main Street, U.S.A. wasn’t too crowded, but it definitely wasn’t empty at all.
Looking up toward Cinderella Castle, we could tell there would probably be some long lines in the park today.
And, we were right! Over at Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor, the line was wrapped all the way around back by the purple wall.
Over in EPCOT, crowds were just as bad! Outside the entrance, we once again found long lines.
We saw a bunch of people while walking around…
…including some long lines to meet characters like Minnie Mouse.
Frozen Ever After had a long line, which wasn’t surprising…
…but what WAS surprising was the long line over at Turtle Talk with Crush in The Seas! It was still only 30 minutes, but a lot of people were waiting to get into the show.
Soarin’ is a popular ride, but 115 minutes?! YIKES! Luckily, this line did get lower, and it was at about 50 minutes around 12:30PM.
There were a lot of people outside of Journey Into Imagination with Figment…
…and there were some big lines inside as well.
If you want to avoid some of these long lines while you’re at Disney World, you can consider things like Disney Genie+, which will allow you to make Lightning Lane reservations to skip the lines for various attractions around the parks (for a price!).
You can also take advantage of things like Early Theme Park Entry if you’re staying at a Disney World hotel and get into the parks 30 minutes before they technically open to everyone. Or, if you’re staying at a Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Disney World hotel, you can use Extended Evening Hours on select nights in certain parks.

We were at WDW last week. It was very hot and very crowded. If possible, I’d postpone any trips to WDW if you can. We were subject to our grandchildren’s school schedules or would’ve timed our trip differently. Due to the crowds, I recommend Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes. But, I know that is not an option for many.
We were just there last week. The crowds were in full force and the ride delays added to the long wait time. We won’t return until they limit park access and fix Genie+. Sorry Disney, I can’t afford to stand in the sun 😔
Will be there in 3 weeks! Hope the lines die somewhat! We do have Genie Plus.
It’s because today is Juneteenth. It’s a federal holiday and a lot of places are closed today.
Well maybe I’ll hold off on my trip to WDW till 2023… LOL… will see if these crowds will ever get back to normal
Long lines at Disneyworld IS normal! The short lines the past two summers were the abnormal years!
I see that the article mentions that there were long lines at both EPCOT And Magic Kingdom today 6/20/22. The article is posted at 12:30. Do you get special Hopping privileges before 1:00pm? How did you see that there were lines in both parks before hopping time? I do not doubt that lines are long. It is summer after all.
Hi Donna! We actually have multiple reporters so we often have people in all the parks at the same time. Park hopping starts at 2pm for us just like everyone else. 🙂
