Hollywood’s El Capitan Theatre to Host “Nutcracker and the Four Realms” Events

The El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood will be hosting a number of special events around the release of the upcoming film “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.”

Richard E. Grant is Shiver, Keira Knightley is The Sugar Plum Fairy, Eugenio Derbrez is Hawthorne and Mackenzie Foy is Clara in Disney’s THE NUTCRACKER AND THE FOUR REALMS.

You can be among the first to see the new movie by attending a special opening night event at 7 p.m. on November 1, the day before the official release. That evening the Los Angeles Ballet, headed by artistic directors Thordal Christensen and Colleen Neary, will perform a short excerpt from the company’s production of “The Nutcracker.” Tickets to the opening night event are $45 each and include a reserved seat, popcorn, a 20-oz. bottled drink, Fairy Floss, tote bag, and an exclusive poster.

The El Capitan will then present a special engagement of “The Nutcracker and the Four Realms,” shown in Dolby VisionTM Laser Projection & Dolby Atmos® Sound Technology, from November 2 to 18.

During this run, visitors will be able to see an exhibit featuring costumes from the production on display in the lower lounge of the El Capitan.

In addition, they’ll have the opportunity to take photos with a life-sized music box that sits on the stage, as the El Capitan’s Music Maestro spins tunes themed to each of the Four Realms.  When the lights go down for the film’s start, the music box will come to life.

The El Capitan Theatre will also welcome 18 area dance companies and schools on selected dates to perform short interpretations of “The Nutcracker” prior to the movie.  The dance styles will range from ballet, modern dance, jazz, and hip-hop to samba and even Bollywood.

At the 7:30 p.m. screening on November 2, the Debbie Allen Dance Academy will perform a short excerpt from Debbie Allen’s Hot Chocolate Nutcracker.
