Disney Pic of the Week: Counter Service Restaurants

Photographic Innoventions by Scott Thomas

There are nearly a hundred counter service restaurants in the Walt Disney World Resort. They offer everything from complete meals to a quick snack. Over the last few years, Disney has added many new offerings at these restaurants to better service their guests. People have their favorites at the parks and resorts. Some of mine are the Columbia Harbour House at the Magic Kingdom, Pizzafari in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Yorkshire County Fish Shop in Epcot and the Backlot Express (pictured below) at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Do you have a favorite counter service restaurant?

  1. I agree, the Columbia Harbor House is my favorite counter service in all of the World. The Lighthouse Sandwich is a must whenever we are at the Magic Kingdom.
    Thanks for the great pictures,
    Terry

  2. Columbia Harbour House – a recent discovery – wonderful sandwiches a nice meal (that’s not one of the typical hamburgers)and so filling. Also love Flame Tree, but for having decent servings of yummy fresh fruit. And Cosmic Ray’s for all of the options (at various “bays”) that suit many tastes. I highly suggest buying a Quick Service Meal plan (or traveling when they are free) and visiting the various resort QS options as well as touring the QS options at the parks. Kringla Bakeri in Norway has wonderful meals and I visited there on the free meal plan and other guests were amazed at how much food my family and I had for FREE! Yum…I’m ready to pack my bags right now!

  3. I can’t believe you said “large portion” of ribs! If that is true then the Flame Tree BBQ will have to get to the top of my list. One complaint I have after visiting the “World” over 80 times in the last 20 years is that I am still hungry anytime I eat at any of the quick service restaurants.

Scott replies: I never have that complaint. The portions are fine for me at these types of places.

  4. Hi Scott,

Large portions of tasty ribs, beer and wine, and a great waterfront seating location puts Flame Tree BBQ at Animal Kingdom at the top of my list of favorite counter service locations!

Scott replies: Maybe we can share some of the ribs in October? Do like WDW’s BBQ sauce!
