There are lots of Six Flags parks located all over the country, and we keep an eye on their updates too, because you never know when a new coaster or ride may become the new hot ticket item! Over at Six Flags Over Texas, we’ve known that a massive new coaster has been on the way, but now we’ve got an official opening date you won’t want to miss.

Tormenta Rampaging Run is a record-setting giga dive coaster that has set out to be the tallest, fastest, longest, and most inverted dive coaster on the planet. It’ll be set in the new Spanish village, Rancho de la Tormenta area of Six Flags Over Texas, and now we know that it’ll officially be opening on June 26th!

A giga dive coaster has never existed until now. But what does that really mean? Well, Tormenta blends the vertical drama of a dive coaster with the grand heights of a giga, and then adds on multiple massive inversions, including a record-breaking vertical loop.

The new coaster is actually shattering six World Records at the same time:

  • Longest Dive Coaster: 4,199 ft
  • Tallest Dive Coaster: 309 ft
  • Highest 95 Degree Beyond Vertical Drop: 285 ft
  • Fastest Dive Coaster: 87 mph
  • Highest Immelmann Inversion: 218 ft
  • Tallest Vertical Coaster Loop: 179 ft

Tormenta Rampaging Run will bring riders to a height of 309 feet before plummeting them down a wild 285 ft at a beyond vertical 95 degrees. And when Six Flags says “beyond”, it means “it’s not straight down, it’s on the other side of straight down.” We’re terrified, yes, thank you very much.

It’s expected that this ride is about to be very popular, especially amongst thrill seekers, so if you know you want to head to this park this summer, we suggest planning ahead and preparing for a pretty long wait time!
