The summer of 2026 is shaping up to be a busy one at Walt Disney World, with new and revamped rides and perks galore, which means that, as is often the case in the summer, a lot of guests are going to be flying through Orlando International Airport to visit the “Most Magical Place on Earth”, as well as the Universal Orlando Resort, and Central Florida’s other attractions.

While the summer in general is setting up to be a busy one at MCO, some days are lining up to be busier than others, and you should probably try to build your travel around avoiding them if you have that flexibility.
July 3rd & 6th
The 4th of July Holiday weekend is ALWAYS a busy one at the Central Florida theme parks, which in turn means it’s always a busy one at MCO. However, that’s even more amplified this year since the holiday — America’s 250th birthday — falls on a Saturday. That means many travelers will arrive at the airport on Friday to kick off the weekend, and many will fly out on Monday to end the extended Holiday Weekend.

July 17th & July 24th
While neither July 17th nor the 24th is tied to a major Holiday, they fall smack dab in the heart of summer vacation season. Schools are closed, and both Disney and Universal are humming on all cylinders, meaning that flights are pouring into MCO at the beginning of each week as families arrive for vacation.

August 2nd
Jumping ahead to the following month, the week beginning with August 2nd marks the final week of summer vacation before many — not all, but many — U.S. kids go back to school. Meaning that it’s the final week for many families to squeeze in a final summer vacation.

September 7th
While the first few weeks of August mean back to school for many kids, the “end of summer” in the mind of many Americans is Labor Day. In 2026, Labor Day falls on the latest possible date — September 7th — and the holiday will likely be swarmed with travelers heading home from squeezing the last possible morsel they could out of their summer.

If you find yourself planning a trip to Central Florida this summer, you may want to try to avoid flying into and out of MCO on these days if you can. Stay tuned to AllEars for more travel tips!
