It’s no secret that Six Flags Entertainment Corporation, which runs Six Flags theme parks all over the U.S., has been having some financial difficulties. Well, those financial difficulties could lead to another Six Flags theme park closing, this time in St. Louis, Missouri.

According to Fox2Now, Six Flags St. Louis may be in trouble due to its parent company’s financial woes. Last year, Six Flags merged with Cedar Fair to create Six Flags Entertainment Corporation. That company has now reported a $100 million net loss during its second quarter, caused by lower attendance across the 42 theme parks and water parks it manages.

However, attendance at Six Flags St. Louis seems to be holding steady. Officials at that park have stated that it’s currently investing in repairs, upgrades for concessions, and new rides. However, the fate of its parent company could mean an uncertain future for the theme park.

Earlier this year, Six Flags announced that it would close Six Flags America and Hurricane Harbor in Maryland by the end of 2025. It was also recently reported that Six Flags California’s Great America in California may also be closing its doors soon.

Of course, this doesn’t mean that ALL Six Flags theme parks are in trouble, and we can hope that Six Flags St. Louis is saved from the chopping block. We’ll keep an eye on the situation and keep you updated if we learn more.

  1. I live in Missouri, and although I haven’t been to 6 Flags in several years. EVERY year, around Fright Fest time, I WANT to go and get a season’s pass, that will allow me to go throughout this year, and all of next year! But, everybody I know, has somebody else to go with. I don’t want to go alone, nor be the proverbial third wheel, again. But even more so, I got concerned when they started closing down other 6 Flags parks across the country. So much so, that I sent a personal email to Six Flags St Louis’s management, hoping to get a reassurance that OUR 6 Flags in Eureka, MO was immune to the VIRUS of being shut down. I did receive positive corresponce, that there wasn’t any threats or concerns with the park’s stability, nor plans to be affected. It may be a couple hours away, and I may not get to go nearly as often as I would like to, but a theme park is such a great way to escape, and have fun! They also employ so many people, and that job loss alone, strikes our economy at the core.
What can I say, I like to have fun, and I like being active, far more than most other people my age. I want to keep the option of 6 Flags in Missouri. It is a couple hours away, but at least it’s a possible option that I want to KEEP! They take in a lot of revenue, and to keep businesses flourishing, they may need to evaluate the management. It shouldn’t be in financial trouble, as long as the right professionals manage the park. I’ve seen it happen to local businesses, the wrong people can’t even run a yard sale. They will mismanage finances, taking money away to line their own pockets, and then when that business inevitably goes under, it’s literally everybody else in the community that LOSES!
I can only hope, that our 6 Flags St Louis park will continue and be the “happy” place for millions of people each year, as it has been for years!

  2. The news isn’t new to us in St Louis , odd though they just added three rides in the last three years and titan tracked parts of The Boss. Hopefully selling
