The long-awaited Kingdom Hearts III was released on January 29.  We’ve been treated to two videos featuring in-game features and game play in celebration of the release.

Kingdom Hearts III features a voice cast who brought to life beloved characters across popular Walt Disney Animation Studios and Pixar Animation Studios films. Those reprising their Disney Animation roles for the game include Frozen‘s Kristen Bell, Idina  Menzel, Josh Gad and Jonathan Groff, Tangled’s Zachary Levi, Big Hero 6’s Jamie Chung, and more.

In the game-play overview video  we learn how to master the powerful Keyblades. As the Heartless invade the universe, players need to prepare Sora and his friends to protect the Disney and Pixar worlds against darkness and unlock the power of the Keyblades.

We learn that for the first time in the Kingdom Hearts series, the Keyblades have the ability to transform into different forms with powerful new abilities and dazzling attacks inspired by the characters and elements of each world.

Players can also learn how to use elemental magic for offensive and defensive purposes, such as creating ice slides and wind vortexes to navigate through the chaos in battle. Taking the form of classic Disney rides, players can utilize the power of the Attractions, or team up with Donald, Goofy and other legendary characters from Disney and Pixar worlds to turn the tides against the darkness.

The preview video clip also gives fans a glimpse of the Gummi Ship and how to augment its speed, shield, firepower, and design as they journey between worlds. The launch celebration video below offers a trip down memory lane with classic Kingdom mini-games inspired by 1980’s-era LCD games and iconic Disney animated shorts featured in the game.

The action role-playing game holds an 88 on Metacritic at launch, with Game Informer calling it “a main attraction worth waiting for” and GamesBeat claiming, “Kingdom Hearts is perfect for me.”
