According to an article in the Orlando Sentinel, the Richard Petty Driving Experience at Walt Disney World will close late June 2015.
The popular race car driving experience opened in 1997 and has continued to offer unique experiences to Orlando visitors. Located south of the Magic Kingdom, Disney has reported that they need the space due to transportation projects.
“Disney has other uses for the property, and they have the right to do that, and we respect that,” said Bill Scott, executive vice president of attractions operator Petty Holdings LLC. “It’s not without some sadness that we leave Walt Disney World Speedway. We had a great home here.”
