Epic Universe hasn’t even hit its first birthday yet, and Universal is already making moves that have us seriously hyped.

We’re talking construction fences going up, permits getting filed, and trademarks that sound suspiciously like the nighttime show we’ve all been waiting for. If you thought Universal was going to slow down after opening one of the most ambitious theme parks in recent history, think again. Here’s everything we know about what could be coming next to Epic Universe.
Construction Fences Are Popping Up in Celestial Park
If you’ve been following along with aerial photos from Bioreconstruct (and honestly, who hasn’t?), you’ve probably noticed some new activity happening around Celestial Park. A fresh construction fence has been added in front of an older fence that’s been there since the park opened back in May 2025.

That’s not all, though. There are building materials sitting on-site, which is pretty much always a sign that something’s brewing. Universal hasn’t said a word about what’s going on, but given the location and timing, we wouldn’t be shocked if this turns into a full Celestial Park expansion.

The park already has designated expansion pads scattered throughout, including one right behind Stardust Racers and another next to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It looks like at least one of those spots might be getting put to use sooner than we expected.
A MASSIVE Permit Was Filed in November
Here’s where things get really interesting. Back in November 2025, Universal filed a permit that points to something big coming to Epic Universe. We’re talking about a structure that clocks in at around 150,000 square feet. (That’s not your typical backstage warehouse or break room situation.)

The permit mentions site utilities and foundation work, which suggests this isn’t just infrastructure. While Universal hasn’t confirmed what this building will be, the sheer size alone has people speculating that it could be tied to a future expansion. Some fans think it might connect to the area between Super Nintendo World and Dark Universe, which has plenty of room for development. Whether it’s a new land, an extension of an existing portal, or something else entirely, it’s clear Universal is thinking ahead.
A Nighttime Show Trademark Was Filed in December
This one’s been on our radar for a while now. In December 2025, Universal filed a trademark for something called “Universal Celestial Goodnight,” complete with a logo that features stars and a crescent moon. If that doesn’t scream nighttime spectacular, we don’t know what does.

Right now, Epic Universe has a fountain show that runs after dark, but let’s be real, it’s not exactly the grand finale guests are looking for. Early concept art for the park actually showed fireworks, so this trademark feels like it could be the first step toward something much bigger.

We’re not saying it’s a done deal, because trademarks don’t always turn into actual experiences, but the pieces are definitely starting to line up. If Universal does roll out a proper nighttime show in Celestial Park, it could completely change the vibe of the park once the sun goes down.
Earlier Permits Hinted at Additional Development
The November permit wasn’t the first sign that Universal had more plans for Epic Universe. Back in July 2025, just a couple of months after the park opened, another permit surfaced for a project near the front entrance, somewhere between the main gates and Super Nintendo World.

That one described a shop, warehouse, or restaurant with a footprint of about 40,000 square feet. While that size suggests it’s not an attraction, it does tell us that Universal is actively working to build out more guest-facing spaces. And honestly, that makes sense. The park’s been packed since day one, and adding more dining and retail could help manage those crowds a bit better. There’s been no word on a timeline for that project, but combined with everything else we’re seeing, it’s just another piece of the puzzle.
What’s Next for Epic Universe?
We’re not expecting Universal to officially announce anything anytime soon, but the signs are all there. Between the construction activity, the permits, and the trademark, it’s obvious that Universal isn’t resting on its laurels. Epic Universe has been a massive success, and it looks like the team behind it is already thinking about what comes next. Whether that means new lands, expanded portals, or a nighttime show that finally gives the park its big moment, we’re here for all of it.
