A fan-favorite ride has quietly closed at Disney World!

One of Typhoon Lagoon’s most popular raft rides is unexpectedly unavailable. While Disney hasn’t released details yet, the closure may impact how you plan your time at the water park.
If you were planning a visit to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and had Mayday Falls on your must-ride list, here’s a quick update you’ll want to know before you go: the iconic raft ride has unexpectedly closed for the time being.

Disney hasn’t provided an official reopening date, and while temporary closures for maintenance or unexpected issues aren’t uncommon at the water parks, this one feels especially disappointing because Mayday Falls has been a favorite for visitors of all ages. The attraction’s winding, scenic raft journey (complete with twists, turns, and that signature Typhoon Lagoon vibe) has long been a reliable favorite for families and thrill-seekers alike.

The Disney World calendar is currently showing hours for the ride on Saturday, January 17th, but we’ll keep an eye out to see if anything changes. It’s also important to note that Typhoon Lagoon is closed over the next few days due to weather, and is expected to reopen on January 17th.

At the moment, there’s no indication whether this closure is due to routine maintenance, a technical issue, staffing considerations, or something more involved. Disney’s official calendar and the My Disney Experience app now list Mayday Falls as unavailable through January 17th; however, that’s also subject to change as the closure continues, and signage may be present near the ride stating it’s unavailable to ride, depending on when you visit.

If you’re heading to Typhoon Lagoon in the near future, this closure is something to plan around. While the park still offers plenty of water-park thrills, from Crush ’n’ Gusher’s exciting high-speed drops to the relaxing Lazy River and wave pool, losing one of its big raft rides changes the day’s pacing a bit. If Mayday Falls was going to be a highlight for your group, you may want to shift your itinerary toward other slides or grab extra time in open rides.

As always, Disney updates ride status and reopening timelines as soon as they’re available, so checking closer to your visit is a good idea. We’ll also be watching for news on when Mayday Falls might return, and will update again as soon as Disney shares more!
