The Major PROBLEM with Mobile Ordering at Epic Universe

Epic Universe has opened after years of anticipation, and we’re getting to know the park inside and out!

With more than a dozen restaurants and dining locations throughout the five lands of the park, there are so many delicious snacks and meals to explore. Universal Orlando has a Mobile Order system that makes dining quick and easy, but it does seem to have one big problem.

At Epic Universe, the way that Mobile Ordering works is that you’ll select your quick-service restaurant through the Universal Orlando app. Once you get to the restaurant, you can go inside and find a table to sit down, where you’ll place your order digitally.

After you’ve placed your order, you’ll enter your table number either manually or by using the QR code on your table. This will let the Team Members know where to deliver your food.

It’s a very convenient system in the sense that it allows you to sit down for longer, and you don’t have to worry about “table hogs” saving seats for their family and friends. You don’t even have to wait in line at the counter! But there’s one problem if you’re a solo traveler.

For those dining alone, this system can be a little bit awkward if you have to get up from your table while you’re waiting for food. Let’s say you place your order and enter your table number, but then you have to go to the bathroom. What do you do?

Basically, the options you have are to let a Team Member know you’re stepping away from the table, or you can leave some of your belongings behind to signify that you’ve only stepped away momentarily. The second one definitely poses the risk of getting something taken from your seat, though.

Ultimately, our recommendation is to go to the bathroom BEFORE you dine anywhere in the park if you’re eating solo. It’ll save you some headaches and discomfort for sure.
