McDonald’s is teaming up with some of the biggest athletes in the world for a brand new Happy Meal promotion.
Beginning March 11th, the chain will offer new Happy Meals themed around McDonald’s All American Games (McDAAG), and feature “star-studded McDAAG” alumni including Carmelo Anthony, Angel Reese, Sabrina Ionescu, and Aaron Gordon. According to Mickey D’s, the meals celebrate McDonald’s historic legacy with the sport with the next generation of greats, one fry at a time.
Each McDAAG Happy Meal features six basketball hoop toys with mini-basketball and trick-shot launcher, as well as stickers and custom packaging for apple slices and milk. According to McDonald’s, these meals will allow “hoopers” to “practice their skills while enjoying their favorite meal by scanning the QR code on their box, which unlocks an integrated digital gaming experience.” In addition, several games and “design on your own jersey” offerings are available on McDonald’s website.
The Happy meals tie into the McDonald’s All-American Games, the “all-star basketball game played each year for American and Canadian boys’ and girls’ high school basketball graduates.” The boys’ game was first played in 1978, while the girls’ game was added in 2002. The 2025 edition of the games will be staged at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on April 1st.
