See the New CHANGES at Disney’s Iconic Haunted Mansion Ride

Your queue is ready, foolish mortals.

The Haunted Mansion

Last year, Disney announced a massive expansion to the grounds of the original Haunted Mansion at Disneyland. At the time, the company said the additions would “build on the story and lore of the Haunted Mansion and include an expanded outdoor queue to immerse guests in enhanced theming, as well as a new retail shop adjacent to the attraction’s exit.” Now, the first portion is open to the living.

The Haunted Mansion’s new expanded queue area is home to a new series of gardens, each inspired by the attraction’s lore, including areas themed to the iconic Master Gracey and Madame Leota.

The queue is littered with statuettes that reference various elements of the attraction…

…including references to the ride’s early (and eventually abandoned) storyline revolving around a sea captain.

…complete with some appropriate (and appropriately creepy) statue work.

The new queue also features a greenhouse area, which we enjoyed though we wish it weren’t the ONLY shade available on the grounds.

The pet cemetery has been given a new central location…

…and there’s a new crypt similar to the one seen at the exit of the Walt Disney World version of the attraction.

During the period when the Mansion’s new queue was under construction, the attraction — which is currently operating with its Haunted Mansion Holiday seasonal overlay — was using a virtual queue system. However, with the queue now open, Disney has confirmed that the Mansion is “is once again available for guests on Lightning Lane Multi Pass, as well as on Lightning Lane Premier Pass.”

The retail shop, Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond, is scheduled to open in the winter of 2025. Set in the Mansion’s carriage house, the store is described by Disney as featuring “a boudoir on the mezzanine level. At one point, it was home to the mansion’s head caretaker, but later Madame Leota took up residence. It is filled with her eclectic furniture including a crystal ball, a fainting couch, and the original parlor chandelier that Leota used in séances at the mansion.

When the first floor of the carriage house became a shop, Leota kindly lent her desks, cabinets, and chests as antique artifacts to be showcased along with the merchandise. As a powerful medium moving between worlds, Madame Leota comes and goes a lot and is excited to welcome guests to her home, soon.”
