We don’t know about you, but we’re pretty darn stoked about Universal’s Epic Universe. This brand-new theme park will feature five distinct lands, thrilling rides, exciting experiences, and so much more.

We’ve been keeping up with the latest construction progress when we can, but we recently happened to notice that something had changed about Universal’s latest announcements. So, did Universal quietly change the opening timeline for Epic Universe?
During a 2022 Comcast earnings call, it was revealed that Universal was aiming for a summer 2025 opening date for Epic Universe — because of this, many fans (including us!) started getting excited about the prospect of a new park coming so soon.

Universal even began promoting summer 2025 in some promotional materials, and in fact, Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings revealed that he was told Epic Universe would open in “early 2025.”
But, now we’re not so sure.

In the midst of all the latest news we recently learned about Epic Universe, they may have quietly updated the opening timeline without anyone really realizing it.
Instead of “summer 2025” being used in any of the announcements we heard in early February, Universal changed their language to simply “2025.” Is it possible that this was an intentional move to buy them more time?

From what we’ve seen, construction seems to be moving along at a pretty solid pace. We caught a glimpse of some new friends in one of the lands the other day, and in the new Harry Potter land, work has been started — and nearly completed — on the Porte Saint-Denis that will welcome guests.

We know that Universal’s Nova Stella Resort and Terra Luna Resort are set to open on January 21st, 2025, and February 25th, 2025, respectively, and Loews has mentioned that these hotels will open before the park does. This doesn’t necessarily mean Epic Universe will open soon after, but it is a sign that things are moving along.

No matter what, though, we’re excited about any 2025 opening date we can get — as long as it means we won’t have too much longer to wait.
Of course, Universal could still make any number of changes to the opening timeline for Epic Universe. We’ll be on the lookout for any update we can get, so be sure to stay tuned to AllEars for more!
