If You’re Feeling Down and Uninspired, Watch This.

It’s been quite the year for everyone as we step into a new world that has changed our way of living.

We can’t wait to see it all finished.

Even though there have been hardships for many of us, there has been a light at the end of the tunnel with the release of vaccines, parks reopening, and more. And, if you’re in need of some extra inspiration, you’ll want to watch this event.

There’s going to be a VERY special guest commencement speaker at the University of Texas at Austin! Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger will deliver the keynote address at the college’s 138th spring commencement ceremony on May 22nd.

Iger will be addressing nearly the graduates, their parents, and guests of the university during the 8PM ceremony. He will impart wisdom and lessons to nearly 10,000 graduates from his 45 years in media and leadership positions. Specifically in his 15 years serving as Disney’s CEO, Iger helped the company acquire Pixar, Marvel, Lucasfilm, and 21st Century Fox. He even help promote record-setting films, including Avengers: Endgame, Black Panther, Frozen, and Frozen 2.

Disney was also able to make a name for itself in the streaming service umbrella with Disney+ and ESPN+, as well as open another foreign park with Shanghai Disney Resort under Bob Iger’s leadership. Iger has even been named Time’s Businessperson of the Year, one of the “World’s Most Powerful People” by Forbes magazine, and one of the “Best CEOs” by Institutional Investor magazine, along with many other titles and honors.

Bob Iger has gone on to become a New York Times best-selling novelist for his 2019 book, The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of The Walt Disney Company. The novel dives into Iger’s 45-year career with Disney and ABC and the lessons he learned about leadership, optimism, decisiveness, and integrity.

During his time as the head of Disney, Bob Iger focused on a specific leadership strategy with three pillars: generating the best creative content possible, fostering innovation and using the latest technology, and expanding into new markets around the world. And, his attention to quality and inspiration will be the message he gives to graduates.

Jay Hartzell, the president of The University for Texas at Austin, has stated that “Bob Iger’s stellar career and visionary leadership have the capacity to inspire and teach us all. We live in a rapidly changing world, and Bob has been at the forefront of an industry that has witnessed seismic shifts over the last two decades. I’m confident that for years to come, students will remember his wise words —when they think of their commencement, as they transform their own industries, and with each of the (hopefully) many future episodes of WandaVision.”

Bob Iger last spoke at the University of Texas at Austin at the university’s VIP Distinguished Speaker Series in 2018. While I am thrilled to hear Iger’s speech as a UT Alum, his words of wisdom are inspiration to all graduates, people starting a new chapter in their lives, or anybody who has big dreams and ambitions.
