The restaurant industry has been hit hard by the widespread closures across the country. As a longtime member of the industry, Guy Fieri has stepped up to help workers who have been affected.
According to People, Guy Fieri partnered with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation to launch the Restaurant Employee Relief Fund. The campaign will raise money to give one-time $500 grants to impacted workers. The payments could be made as soon as April.
Grant applications will be available starting April 2nd. To be eligible, individuals need to have worked in the restaurant industry for at least 90 days, received their primary income from the restaurant industry, and had a decrease in wages or loss of job on or after March 10.
Checks will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Many companies are contributing to the relief, including PepsiCo, Moët Hennessy USA, Uber Eats, Constellation Brands, among others. 100 percent of any future donations will also go towards the impacted restaurant workers.
Guy Fieri cited his history in the industry, as well as the hard-work and dedication of restaurant workers as his motivation for getting involved. To donate to the fund or apply for a grant, visit rerf.us.
