Florida Governor Announces Closure of Bars and Nightclubs for Next 30 Days

In response to the coronavirus pandemic, we have seen a variety of closures throughout the nation in an effort to “flatten the curve” of the spread of COVID-19.

Cinderella Castle

In Florida, we have seen the closure of Disney World, Disney Springs and Disney Resort hotels, as well as Universal Orlando and SeaWorld. And now, the Governor of Florida has announced the closure of more spots throughout the state.

Today, Governor DeSantis announced the closure of all Florida bars and nightclubs for the next thirty days. According to the Orlando Sentinel, this ban will go into effect this afternoon at 5 PM. Additionally, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has called for the city to ban on-site alcohol consumption through the end of the month starting today.

Disney Springs

Currently, Disney World, Disney World Resort hotels, and Disney Springs have still listed a closure through the end of March, so we will keep you updated as this story develops.

  1. We have annual passes and had reservations for 9 days beginning March 20. We have rearranged our plans and are scheduled to arrive April 3rd. Looks like that may not happen either.

  2. We were due to fly out tomorrow from the UK for two weeks 😭 …. we have rescheduled for May so fingers crossed! Sad that we can’t visit just yet as we have been planning for 2 years but I totally understand and appreciate the reasons why! …. more time to watch Molly on YouTube as we let the countdown begin again!!

  3. We’re due to visit mid April. We were visiting my niece in the College Program which was cancelled. Not sure if we’re going to be able to go as our reservation was on a cast member discount and she is technically no longer a cast member. Sad for the college kids and for those whose vacations had to be cancelled because of the closure.

  4. I was going to Magic Kingdom on the 23rd and when I found out I was so sad. Then Disney Springs and the Hotels closed made everything worse. But I do understand the reason behind the closings.
