For almost 50 years, the Disney Archives have been a haven for Disney history and treasures. It was founded on June 22 , 1970 after Dave Smith was hired by Roy O. Disney.
Dave Smith is being honored in Disneyland with one of the highest honors possible exactly 50 years after he started the Archives. On June 22, 2020, Smith will be getting his own window on Main Street, USA in Disneyland. Only the most important and legendary Disney employees have received windows on Main Street.
In addition to starting the Disney Archives, Smith authored many Disney books including the official encyclopedia of Disney knowledge, Disney A to Z. In 2007, Smith was honored with the Disney Legends Award for his significant contribution to the Walt Disney Company.
We can’t wait to see which fictional business will feature his name and we are sure it will honor this beloved archivist.
