Disneyland is celebrating the Lunar New Year with the Happy Lunar New Year Celebration! January 20-29.
The festivities are taking place along the Small World Mall. There are banners and other decorations all along the way.
Other decorations include colorful lanterns in the trees.
Though they aren’t real, I thought the blooming cherry trees were very attractive.
The terraced area is a character meet-and-greet, where Mulan, Mushu, and Chip and Dale in Asian attire are greeting guests.
Appropriately for Mushu, it’s the year of the dragon!
There are also local artists doing demonstrations.
Guests are invited to twirl ribbon wands with colorfully costumed dancers.
Throughout the day Mulan’s Chinese New Year Procession takes place as Mulan and Mushu, accompanied by dancers, go to and from the meet and greet area.
On January 20-23, 25, and 27-29 live performances by groups such as Chinese Dragon dancers, Korean drummers, Vietnamese musicians and dancers, and martial artists will take place.
There are special food items available at food carts in the area. One of them offers vegetarian egg rolls and edamame. And another is serving strawberry churros (though those don’t seem much like traditional Lunar New Year foods to me!).
The Happy Lunar New Year Celebration! takes place January 20-29 from 10 am to 5 pm.
This looks like so much fun. We love celebrating Chinese New Year in New York. We were in WDW in 2010 for Chinese New Year and though they would have some type of celebration in Epcot. We were so disappointed when we got there and there was nothing going on the celebrate. Why oh why don’t they do something like this in WDW.
