Several days ago, the concrete foundation was poured for Epcot’s “Guardians of the Galaxy“-themed attraction, which is on track to be one of the world’s longest enclosed roller coasters. To house it, a new facility is being built adjacent to the existing Universe of Energy building.
Inspired by the films, the new attraction will expand on the original vision of Epcot’s Future World, with a storyline being developed by Walt Disney Imagineering in close collaboration with the original filmmakers.
Disney recently released the following behind-the-scenes look at the construction progress:
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” attraction is currently set to debut at Epcot just in time for Walt Disney World’s 50th anniversary, but guests can get a “Guardians” fix at Epcot much sooner than that. The characters Star-Lord and Gamora from “Guardians of the Galaxy” films will take guests on a musical journey through the cosmos in “The Guardians of the Galaxy – Awesome Mix Live!” starting June 9 at the America Gardens Theatre. The show will be performed five times daily through August 19.
