This was the worst idea Disney has ever come up with. It added so much stress to the trip- forced people into their phones and a huge waste of money because all the rides were taken. What was wrong with the FastPass system?? This last trip to Disney has me thinking it may be my last, if they keep this up.
Pros:
noneCons:
Stressful, a huge waste of money, it doesn't work, gives a false sense of hope, takes all of the magic of Disney away.Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 03/20/2022

This service needs a lot of improvement. On busy days, you basically have to start making reservations at 7 am in order to get a decent ride. On many days, we could only get 2 rides that we actually wanted. The app kills any ability to plan your day in advance because you have no control over the return times — even when you think you are selecting a certain time, you will often be assigned a later time that may not work for you. It is also very difficult to change times for an existing reservation even when a better time later becomes available — you have to cancel the existing before you can try to book the better time, which usually results in losing both times. The app itself is not user friendly and is very glitchy and drains the phone battery pretty heavily. It is a very frustrating experience overall to pay for the access, spend so much time on your phone during your vacation, and not feel like you are getting the full benefit of the service.
Pros:
Necessary to ride popular rides (like Slinky Dog Dash) without super long waits. When you get a return time it does work well and the wait is short. Most useful in Magic Kingdom.Cons:
Very frustrating experience for the app user. Pretty useless in certain parks with fewer attractions (Epcot, Animal Kingdom), where the things where you save much time get booked up fast. You can achieve the same or better results with those parks by staying on site and rope dropping.Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 03/20/2022

My family of four decided to buy this pass to get on a bucket list ride of my daughter’s. We waited over an hour to get the passes and then we were not allowed to even use it because they stated “we did not have it on our account” we were confused and frustrated t this point so we started asking workers. We asked 3 people and everyone of them gave a different answer as to either how it is working or how it is supposed to work. Ultimately no one knew or understood what it was for. We had to wait in the 3 hour line for the ride and since it was our last day and we wanted to hit another park we also found out they are not transferable to other Disney parks. It made our whole experience overly complicated and stressful. They basically took our money and we got absolutely nothing in return!

The worst thing Disney has added to the park experience… ever. We used to love the 3 fast passes booked in advance. It gave us a chance to get started on our day and feel like waiting wasn’t such a big deal. But this is just a mess. Someone, usually the Mom who plans everything, has to wake up early and hope dream wish and be thwarted by the internet gods to try and get a reservation at something their family wants to do while their family sleeps in. Then you’re spending your day looking at wait times, trying to find a way to get something in that you want to ride as a family without disappointing everyone. The times posted are often very wrong- for instance today at MK, Big Thunder Mtn was listed as 5 min wait… of course everyone swarmed it and it was actually an 80 minute wait. So… crowd control for the win, for Disney.
Pros:
None. Everyone is in their phone and Disney makes more money.Cons:
Everyone is on their phone, added stress, inability to actually plan the day, lots of wasted time.Reviewed by LizaKH Review Date: 03/12/2022

I don’t know what was going through Disneys ears on this idea. Not only is it NOT expedient, it ruined the whole day. I was so preoccupied with the app I couldn’t enjoy the day. After this, our family will not return to Disney. Universal, as always, has a better system for moving people through the park & I’ll happily spend my money there in the future.

My family of 4 adults took a trip to Disney shortly after Genie+ was introduced. We were there November 4-13. We stayed on property and were able to start attempts to reserve rides at 7 AM. We did luck out once or twice during a 9 day trip, and get a ride we wanted before noon, but more often than not we were looking at late afternoon reservations or no availability at all -- at 7AM. With Lightning Lane we found that reservation times were difficult to get and we were lucky to get 2 rides during the course of the day. We also found that posted wait times for just about every ride were much lower than the actual wait time. For example, the posted wait time for Flight of Passage was 45 minutes. We got in that line thinking that wouldn\\\\\\'t be terrible. The actual wait was 2 and a half hours.
For perspective, my daughter and I had taken a trip to Disney a few months before they rolled Genie+ out. There were NO fast passes. The lines moved much more efficiently. Posted wait times were accurate. We got to do everything we wanted to do and had plenty of time to relax during the day. I really wish they would just scrap the whole idea of any kind of fast pass.
Pros:
You may be able to get a reservation for something like Remy or Rise of the Resistance, but don\\\\\\'t bank on it.Cons:
Expensive for what it is. Creates a log jam with the standby lines, and makes posted wait times worthless.Reviewed by SSM Review Date: 03/10/2022

Where to begin? Purchased this for 6 days for a trip the first week of March. Complete waste of $190 (6 days, 2 people). I was on the app at 7am each morning and the first available lightening lane was at 8pm. One day we were able to ride just one ride using this service, so $30 for ONE ride!!!! Just ridiculous! I complained at guest service to be told they are working on it. Don't even think about using this money grab! Shame on you Disney!

I have been a frequent visitor to Disney World in the past. Decided to do a return trip to reminisce. I purchased the genie + with lightning pass thinking it was like fast pass but now you have to pay. I couldn’t have been more wrong! Paid the money for nothing! We stayed in the park and still were only able to get one reservation in Epcot for Soaring. The lines for all the rides were 2 hours long with no lightning lane times available!
Pros:
If you stay on Disney property you can at least get on one ride if you book at 7 am without a long line.Cons:
Can’t be used! Not worth the extra money. Disney needs to rethink!Reviewed by Anonymous Review Date: 03/10/2022
