The TSA just rolled out a pilot program that lets certain travelers skip the airport chaos entirely, and it’s already live. Here’s what you need to know about this new remote screening option and whether it could work for your next trip.

What Is TSA’s Remote Screening Program?

Starting on June 1st, 2026, the TSA launched a first-of-its-kind remote screening pilot at Boston Logan International Airport. The program lets eligible passengers go through security at an off-site location in Framingham, Massachusetts, before boarding a direct bus to the secure side of their terminal at Logan.

No airport traffic. No scrambling for parking. No checkpoint crowds. You handle the stressful stuff somewhere calmer and show up airside, ready to go.

Who Can Use It Right Now?

The Framingham remote terminal is currently available to passengers flying JetBlue or Delta out of Boston Logan, with screening available between 5:30 AM and 4 PM. It’s a pilot program, so availability is limited for now, but the TSA has signaled that this kind of remote screening could expand to more airports and airlines down the road.

Similar remote screening locations already exist at LAX, Atlanta, and JFK, so this isn’t a concept being tested in a vacuum.

How Much Does It Cost?

Here’s where it gets genuinely interesting. Tickets for the Framingham experience are just $9, and kids under 18 ride the secure bus for free when traveling with a ticketed adult. Parking at the Framingham site runs only $7 per day, which, if you’ve ever paid for airport parking, you know is an almost laughably good deal.

For a family heading out of Boston, this could save a meaningful amount of money while actually making the morning less miserable. You can grab tickets now at massport.com.

Why This Matters for Travelers

Airport stress is real, and a lot of it happens before you ever reach the gate. The drive in, the parking situation, the checkpoint line, the general sense that everything is conspiring against you catching your flight. This program is designed to pull some of that friction out of the equation by moving the security experience to a less congested location and pairing it with a guaranteed ride to the secure terminal.

For the TSA, the goal is to create more options for travelers while keeping security standards just as strong. That framing matters. This isn’t a shortcut through screening. It’s a smarter routing option for people who want a different kind of travel morning.

Could This Go Nationwide?

Possibly, and soon. The TSA has been clear that this Boston pilot is part of a broader push to expand remote screening options across the country. Given that the concept is already operating in some form at three other major airports, the infrastructure and interest are clearly there. Whether it comes to your home airport is a different question, but the momentum is pointing in that direction.

TSA PreCheck

For $9, travelers flying JetBlue or Delta out of Boston Logan now have the option to sidestep the airport entirely until they’re already through security. That’s a genuinely compelling deal, especially for anyone who dreads the pre-flight grind.
