Magic Kingdom is ICONIC Disney World and the park that almost everyone thinks of when visiting Disney World. And we’re there a LOT, so we have a good idea of what works and doesn’t work there.

Now, you might have an idea of what you want to wear to Magic Kingdom, but we’re going to share some life advice with you, things we’ve learned from being in Disney World every day. There are just certain things you should NOT wear. Let’s talk about it.
Flip Flops
Flip flops may be great for running around the hotel pool, but you do not want to walk miles and miles in them in Disney World. They just don’t have enough cushioning for your feet, which will take a beating with all the walking — and standing — you’ll end up doing (and it’s way more than you’ll expect).

Instead, opt for a sneaker that was made for foot comfort and lots of walking. Our favorite is the Hoka Clifton 10 because it has a lot of cushioning and makes your feet feel like they’re walking on clouds.

These shoes will save your feet from all the abuse they’ll take when you’re in Disney World. We’ve tested them day after day, and they continue to hold up.
Heels
We know it should go without saying, but we’ve seen folks in the parks in high heels. Maybe they thought it would look cute if they dressed up in their prettiest dress and nicest heels for those Cinderella Castle photos, but we can guarantee that those folks were also limping later that day.

Skip the pretty heels and opt for something like these Ecetana Ballet Flats instead. These will still let you look put together, but they’re designed for lots of walking and standing. They fold up so you can keep them in your bag. Going to a fancy dinner straight from the parks? No prob — just pop these babies out and throw your sneakers in a locker, your car, or a backpack!

These shoes also have memory foam, which will help your feet stay comfortable throughout a long day in Magic Kingdom, from rope drop to Happily Ever After.
Huge Backpack
We know you think you need all kinds of stuff for your park bag, but sometimes, your bag ends up being part of the problem. You don’t need to lug around a heavy backpack all day, which will inevitably end up slapping someone in the face.

Opt for something smaller, like a mini backpack or this ODODOS Sling Bag, which we’ve tested in the parks. It looks small, but you would be surprised at all the park essentials it can hold.

Weird Dad Shirts
To each their own…but if you’re a Disney dad who is looking at a shirt like this, you can do better!

Don’t be THAT Dad. Instead, be a cool dad and sport a Mickey Best Dad Ever Shirt, because well, you’re in Disney World with your family, and that makes you the best dad!

This is a way better shirt to wear. It’s fun, and it has Mickey on it.
Pajamas
Okay, granted, we know it might seem like a good idea to just roll out of your Disney World hotel bed and roll into Magic Kingdom in your pajamas, but please don’t do that (unless it’s for an after hours event…then it’s acceptable).

You can still be super comfy, something like this Lounge Set instead, which comes with a top and bottoms. The set is like pajamas, but elevated enough that they don’t look like pajamas.

Pro tip: this kind of lounge set is also GREAT for your airport and travel days, too.
Short dresses or skirts with nothing underneath
Okay, short dresses and skirts are totally cool at Disney World to help you stay cool, especially in the hot summer months. But trust us, you do NOT want to be getting in and out of Space Mountain’s ride vehicles in that without something underneath because you’ll end up flashing EVERYONE.

Instead, think about something like this Tennis Dress that’s short, made with breathable material, and has shorts underneath it, so you don’t end up having a Space Mountain flashing situation.

This dress comes in a variety of colors, too, so you can grab one for each day of your trip. It’s a great way to stay comfy and cool.
In the meantime, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the latest Disney deals, so make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for more!
