That early morning walk into Disney World’s parks is about to feel a lot colder than usual.

A new Cold Weather Advisory has been issued for the Disney World area, and yes, it’s going to feel very “un-Florida-like” overnight into Friday morning. If you’re visiting the parks or heading out in the early part of the day, you’ll want to know what temperatures to expect and how to stay comfortable.
Winter isn’t quite done with Central Florida yet, and that means we’re once again talking about sweaters, layers, and planning for chilly mornings at Disney World. The Weather Channel has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for the Orlando area and much of Central Florida, with the advisory taking effect overnight into early Friday morning.

This latest cold snap follows a very unusual stretch of temperatures for our part of the Sunshine State, where record lows and even frosty scenes at the parks surprised locals and visitors just last week. While Florida is typically known for sunshine and mild winters, this system is bringing a much colder push of air, and we’re feeling it across the board.

So what exactly does this advisory mean? Temperatures are expected to dip into the 30s, with wind chill values as low as the mid-20s early Friday morning, especially in the hours between around 1 AM and 9 AM when the advisory is in place. That means once you factor in a potential breeze, it could feel a lot colder than the thermometer suggests, particularly if you’re spending time outside before sunrise or walking through the parks first thing in the morning.

During the day, highs won’t feel like much of a warm-up either. Forecasts today show rain moving through early on behind a cold front, followed by breezy, cooler conditions well below seasonal averages. It’s the kind of weather that makes your morning coffee feel extra necessary.

If you’re headed to Disney World or just out and about, dressing in layers is a solid bet — think a warm jacket or hoodie over a long-sleeve shirt, plus pants and closed-toe shoes. Don’t forget accessories like hats and gloves if you’re sensitive to the cold, especially in the early hours. Even something as simple as a light scarf can make a big difference when wind chill kicks in. And if you’re planning to be outdoors early for rope drop or morning runs in the parks, having that extra layer ready to go will help you feel much more comfortable.

This cold spell won’t last forever, thankfully. Forecast models show temperatures beginning to moderate over the weekend and early next week, with highs creeping back toward more typical Florida winter values in the 60s and 70s. So while Friday morning might feel brisk enough to make you question your vacation wardrobe choices, brighter and warmer days are just around the corner.

If you plan to be outside within the Cold Weather Advisory or shortly afterwards, it’s always a good idea to play it safe and bundle up, plan for chilly mornings, and don’t be shy about bringing extra layers if you’re visiting the parks. A cold start doesn’t mean a cold day for long, and a little prep goes a long way when the cold weather decides to swing through Florida!
