Confusing Changes Hit Disney’s Polynesian Resort — Here’s What You Need to Know

WHEN WILL THE CONSTRUCTION END??? This is how we feel every day, heading to Disney World and seeing wall after wall and construction zone after construction zone. Sometimes it hits at the most unexpected places, too!

Disney’s Polynesian Resort

If you’ve got a Disney World vacation coming up, and you’re looking at staying at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you’re going to see the NEW entrance at the resort. It’s going to take some getting used to, whether you’re driving or taking a bus, so let’s take a look at it ahead of time.

If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. They’re experts in the field with over 20 years of vacation planning experience, and they can help take a bunch of the stress out of the entire booking process for you!

The new entrance at the popular resort starts with a new guard station. It looks exactly like the old one, which is blocked off now. All the buses and rideshares are directed to this entrance now, and will drop you off at the loop in front of the hotel.

The front of the resort!

You’ll see a lot of hedges, fencing, and temporary blocks along the sidewalks. Although there seems to be a lot more parking availability than there used to be, which is great!

Blocking

On top of the new entrance at the resort, Disney is taking this opportunity to put down new landscaping from the Grand Ceremonial House all along the walkway out to where the bus stop is for the pick up out in front of the resort. It seems like Disney is trying to tackle everything at once with the resort, which is smart.

Lot’s is happening at Poly

If you’re staying here or visiting the resort, be aware that the bus stop being at the front is causing a bit of a bottleneck situation right now with hotel buses arriving, then Mears, and even Disney Cruise Line transfers. So, you may need a little patience. Also, Disney buses have guests walk across the Port Cochere for pick up, while Mears is closer to the entrance of the hotel.
