How to Avoid 3 Hefty Price Increases in Disney World

There’s no denying that a trip to Walt Disney World isn’t cheap, and is in some ways simply getting more expensive each passing year. However, there are ways to mitigate these price increases, if not fully avoid dealing with them.

Over my 30+ years visiting Walt Disney World, I’ve seen the prices to visit the resort — and the associated costs of everything from food to souvenirs — increase. However, I’ve also learned a few tricks to try and avoid these price increases as much as possible.

Be Flexible

For some guests, the proposed dates of their Walt Disney World vacations are set in stone thanks to occupational or familial reasons. However, for those who don’t ned to go at a specific time, it’s best to be flexible. Thanks to dynamically priced tickets, more in-demand days during the year cost more, while days in comparatively slower seasons cost less.

Never Pay Full Price for a Hotel

Whatever time of the year you’re going, make sure you check with your travel agent or with Disney’s website for potential discounts. There’s pretty much always some kind of deal to be found, whether for military members, residents of certain states, or in some cases, EVERY potential visitor.

Gift Cards and Budgets

Oftentimes, retailers like Costco, Sam’s Club, and even Target will offer discounts on Disney gift cards. For example, a $500 gift card for $450. While that may seem like a small amount, the savings can build considerably when being used to book a trip.

Speaking of gift cards, you can also use them to stick to a souvenir budget. Travel with cards loaded for each day of your trip, and only use that money (outside of emergencies, obviously) to cut down on impulse buy purchases.
