NEWS: Lyft Just Introduced a NEW Simplified Service

Using a rideshare program can be extremely helpful when you’re traveling out of town and can’t take your own car, or you’re not interested in using a taxi service.

However, many can probably relate to traveling with someone who isn’t very tech-savvy. Whether it’s an older adult or a traveler who could use some navigation assistance, there’s a new solution. Lyft now has a new solution to this issue, and it’s called Lyft Silver!

Lyft Silver is a new way to give your older parents, aunts, uncles, and anyone in need of extra help a way to still experience freedom, without worrying about your loved one driving on the road if it’s unsafe for them to do so.

Head of Rider and Community Safety for Lyft, Audrey Liu, said the following when talking about the new service,

“As someone with a mom, an aunt, and several other wonderful older adults in my life, the development of Lyft Silver is deeply personal to me. Our goal wasn’t just to build a service, but to remove everything that makes getting around a challenge. Lyft Silver is about empowering people like my own family to stay connected with their communities, to get out and about with ease and confidence.”

Lyft Silver is built to be simple for users, allowing their family and friends to easily see where they’re going to ensure safety. It includes features like:

Live, human support
The travel essentials are highlighted to reduce confusion
Users will be prioritized for matches with vehicles that are easier to get in and out of
Ride details are shareable with trusted contacts

Nationwide early access began on May 5th. To access this version of the app, open it up, tap ‘You’ in the bottom right corner to access the main menu, then select ‘Lyft Silver’ to turn it on. You can also gift a family or friend Lyft Silver by using the link below, and you can even fund their rides using Lyft Cash, if you’d like.
