Most of us grew up on Disney Channel shows, and kids today hold a similar passion for the TV shows and characters that Disney creates. And a huge announcement was just made about the future of Disney TV.

Disney media geared towards kids has always been extremely popular. From the immense success of Disney Channel in the 90s and early 2000s to the success of Disney+ today, kids have been finding amazing entertainment from Disney for a long time.

However, Disney has officially decided it’s time to rebrand, and any Disney Branded Television is now going to be known as Disney Kids & Family. The goal of this decision is to create greater cohesion and clarity across everything under the Disney umbrella.

Since Disney TV encompasses existing IP media, collaboration with Disney Labels such as Pixar, original shows, and acquired content (we’re looking at you, Bluey), they felt as though this new rebranding would make it clearer to their audience what existed as a part of Disney media.

In terms of age, this division of Disney media is geared towards ages six, with shows like Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, all the way to teens with incredibly popular franchises like Descendants.

Debra OConnell, Chairman of Disney Entertainment Television, and Ayo Davis, the president of Disney Kids & Family, released a joint statement announcing the rebrand, “We have built enduring franchises beloved by kids and families around the world. Our new name better reflects the creativity, ambition, and storytelling we’re known for, while bringing greater clarity to the creative community about who we are and what we create.”
