There are tons of reasons to go to Disneyland this summer! The popular resort has updated some major rules lately, dropped a new popcorn bucket that’s racing to the finish line, and more.
There’s one day this summer that we know is going to be POPULAR, and you won’t even need a park ticket for it. Here’s why you’re going to want to be in Downtown Disney on June 19th!
Disney on the Yard is heading back to Downtown Disney! This popular annual event is dedicated to building a community for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) alumni who work within the Disney Company. Disney on the Yard works with HBCUs around the country to develop internships, mentorships, and career growth.
Disney on the Yard also hosts an annual event called Yardfest: Powered by Celebrate Soulfully. This is a community event that is back for its second year on June 19th. This event isn’t all day, though; it’s only from 5 PM to 9 PM! The best part about this event? Drum Major Mickey Mouse will be there!
This is one of Mickey’s most popular costumes, which was created for the Disney on the Yard initiative. His drum major outfit is a special one that debuted in 2021, and it is a huge hit with fans! Mickey often wears this outfit when he is leading HBCU bands or making appearances at HBCUs. It is seriously popular! To celebrate the event, Disneyland posted a video of Mickey ahead of the event.
In addition to Mickey’s stop by, guests can also play games and win prizes at the Downtown Disney LIVE! stage and lawn. Not only that, but there will also be specialty food and beverages at Parkside Market for you to chow down on.
