So What Exactly IS DisneylandForward? We're Breaking it Down!

Disneyland Resort won’t reopen until April 30th, but Disney already has BIG plans for its future!

Today, Disney announced a new initiative called DisneylandForward, which is a plan to expand Disneyland Resort further.

According to their website, this expansion could entail the theme parks, parking lots, and retails centers, with the concept art indicating a “westside expansion” and an “eastside expansion.” Disneyland hopes to work with the city of Anaheim to make these expansions happen.

But what exactly IS DisneylandForward? Well, according to the DisneylandForward website, it’s a “multiyear public planning effort with the City of Anaheim to update existing development approvals that will allow Disney to meaningfully invest in Anaheim for years to come and meet the future demands in entertainment.”

But what does that mean? Well, Disney is in the beginning of the process of working with Anaheim to “explore the creation of integrated experiences.” This includes new theme park attractions, restaurants, stores, hotels, and more. Disney is asking the city to update its existing approvals to allow for this development.

This planning also involves new parking structures on the eastside. Disney did say that it will remain committed to working with businesses on Harbor Boulevard to “address accessibility to area businesses and take into account their concerns”, according to the website.

President of Disneyland Resort Ken Potrock commented that it’s a “public planning effort with the city of Anaheim to update our development approvals.” The current approvals limit Disney on how it can use its land.
