We’ve tested out some pretty bizarre products in Disney World.

From silly shoe covers to entire poncho pants, we’ve embarrassed ourselves time and time again in the name of science. But one of the most ridiculous things we’ve tried in the parks is this massive fan hat!
When our editors asked us to test out the Outdoor Wide Brim Sun Hat with 2 Solar Fans from Amazon, we were a little baffled. This thing is BIG, and it has two very obvious (and kinda dorky) fans attached to the brim. Would it really cool us off enough to be worth the embarrassment of wearing it?

It’s a UPF 50+ bucket hat with a very wide brim and two solar-powered fans attached for cooling purposes. You can either charge the fans yourself with the provided cord or use the solar power feature to make the fans run. There’s an adjustable chin strap to provide a comfortable fit.

So, was it useful for the parks? Well, we like that you can set both fans to run at once or have them alternate. When you step into the air conditioning, this hat is VERY effective at moving cold air around your face, and it was rather refreshing. But in the heat…it’s a different story.

When you’re outside in the summer heat, it’s mostly just causing hot air to be pushed into your face, which isn’t exactly pleasant. We ended up turning it off when we were outdoors. On top of that, the fans don’t lock into place in their spots on the hat, so we were worried that they would fall out if we leaned too far forward.

We did notice several other people in the parks (adults AND children) wearing this hat, so it’s possible that it could become trendy in a way. It wasn’t exactly in tune with our personal style, but it might be just right for someone.
We’ll let you know if there are more product reviews from the parks that could improve your trip. In the meantime, we’ll be keeping an eye out for the latest Disney deals, so make sure you stay tuned to AllEars for more!

I noticed there is no picture of anyone wearing it. It must look really dorky.
