We absolutely LOVE this resort. If we weren't DVC members, we would pay to stay here using a service like David's to rent points. BUT, we are members and this is our home resort. I cannot say enough good stuff about staying here - friendliness and efficiency of cast members, spacious design of villas, comfy beds, convenience of being on the monorail, the views, the pools, having our own laundry and full kitchen, and everything is kept so clean. Absolutely, hands down, the best on property and one of the few to have an extra bathroom... the 1 BR has two baths, the 2 BR has three, and so on. LOVE THIS PLACE - we just stayed there a week ago and have plans to go back in early February. Can't get enough!

Pros:

Convenient location and all the amenities one would expect from WDW

Cons:

none

Location location location! It can't be beat. I mean you can walk to MK. The Monorail is right there! BLT is great part of DVC. Pretty cool decorations. The pool is ok, small in a way, but cool. Slide is fun.

Pros:

Close walk to MK. Monorail to Epcot and 2 other resorts!

Cons:

Have to walk over to contemporary for food and shopping

Bay Lake Tower is great. I have stayed many times as I am a Vacation Club owner. Location, Restaurants and lounges are amazing

Pros:

Location

Cons:

The only thing I can say is that the studio is really small. I would not have more than two people stay in one.

Bay Lake Tower

Pros:

Bay Lake Tower is one of the best resorts on Walt Disney World property. The resort is well appointed, offers a lot of amenities for everyone to enjoy. The rooms are of ample size too. The best feature: the Magic Kingdom is literally in your backyard and you can walk there quickly! I like how it is connected via walkway to the Contemporary Resort.

Cons:

No cons.

The convenience to MK is amazing. Walking to MK is quick and allows you to go through a small, fast bag check line rather than waiting in the public lines, another time saver. Walkway to Contemporary is great (but very windy) and an amazing place (with the music piped in) to watch the Fireworks every night. The pool was unimpressive (though the small slide is great for little ones). My daughter's feet were blue for 2 days after playing at the splash pad so I'd encourage pool shoes if you plan to use that. Amenities/food at Contemporary are great and very convenient. 2 bedroom villa layout was great and very functional. Maid service daily was also very good. Beds very comfortable including the sofa bed. It is very loud when the water parade goes through at 10:30 every night but for a pretty short time.

Pros:

Location

Cons:

Price

BLT is our home resort and we stayed 1/8-1/15, this is our first time in a one bedroom here, we had plenty of room and the full kitchen was great to have, there also is a very large flat screen tv in the living room and that was a big plus with all the football games.
The room was very quiet and clean, the 2 bathrooms came in handy In the mornings.
we had great view of the pool area and the lake behind the pool.

Pros:

Close to MK and Top of the World,

Cons:

None

This was our first time at this resort and we really liked it. Our room was very spacious for a 1 bedroom villa. It was clean and comfortable. It was nice to be on the monorail. We were on the 5th floor and it was awesome to walk out and be able to get to the 4th floor at the Contemporary through the walkway.

We ate at the Wave and it was awesome. We ate lunch at the quick service restaurant when we got there and it was not crowded at all. The rest of the vacation it was very crowded. Food and choices were good.

The challenges..One of our party rented a scooter. It was at the Contemporary and not at Bay Lake Tower. We had to walk over and pick it up there because a signature was required. If you need a scooter, it should be assumed that you can't walk to go get it. Fortunately others in the party could. We also had a very frustrating experience getting our food and owners locker delivered. It took 3 visits and about an hour to get both. The very nice bellman brought a large Rubbermaid type container and seemed not to understand what an owners locker was. It ended up that it was also at the Contemporary. Have no clue why that was since the delivery confirmation clearly said Bay Lake Tower.

We had some very aggressive cleaning people who basically tried to force their way into our room to get garbage. We did not have a do not disturb sign in our room, but when we asked that they come back, they knocked persistently even though I told them that there were people in the shower getting ready. It was really annoying and not appreciated at all. The day we checked out, they also came knocking...why??? Check out is at 11.

Finally, we left to go from the 5th floor to the 1st 20 minutes in advance of our Magical Express time. We almost missed the bus because we could not get downstairs. That is absurd.

Would we go back? I don't think so, but mainly because it is not our home resort and we prefer another area, but also because of some of the issues experienced. I would recommend it for families with younger children because of the location.

Bay Lake is our home resort. Dec 27 - Jan 2 was our fifth time staying here. We absolutely love this resort. Compared with many resorts BLT is relatively small. The walk to the Contemporary or to the pool or anywhere else is under 5 minutes.

The Contempo Cafe has a good selection any time of the day. If you go you must try their cupcakes! We ate there a few times - once for a quick breakfast, once for lunch and once late at night (around 10:00). It's big enough to accommodate larger crowds when it gets busy. You're supposed to order and pay at the register and someone will bring your food to your table. But if you're on the meal plan you should select your drink and desert first and bring them with you to the register when you order your entree. We witnessed many people confused by this process.

We also ate at The Wave once which was excellent and hopefully I will get around to posting a separate review for The Wave.

The resort cast members were all so friendly and helpful. Check in was smooth and our room was ready well before 4:00 but because we had transferred from another resort (Polynesian) our luggage did not arrive until 3:30. So we had a room but no luggage! No problem really.

Every review mentions the easy access to MK and it is as simple and convenient as everyone says. One morning we even had our own entrance line as we arrived at MK. There was a security guard checking bags at the end of the walkway and once we cleared that we bypassed the metal detectors and walked directly to the entrance. That was convenient! It is worth noting that security was very heavy during our trip. Disney security, Homeland Security and local police officers made their presence known before you even reached the gates at all four parks. We visited Epcot multiple times and every guest that entered went through the metal detectors. In addition, every member of my family was randomly selected to go through the metal detectors several times. I have absolutely no problem with this! And in fact I applaud Disney's efforts.

Our room was clean, the bed was extremely comfortable and everything worked well. We had an incredible view of MK from the 11th floor. I love sitting on the balcony and watching the monorails go back and forth or just listening to the sounds from MK.

I mentioned earlier that we had transferred from Polynesian. The two resorts are very different of course. The Polynesian is serene and peaceful (well, the Great Ceremonial House is usually busy and loud) while Bay Lake is not nearly as quiet. But it's okay with us - we will always love BLT!

Location, comfort, views
