The convention Star Wars Celebration, billed as “the ultimate fan experience focused on the galaxy far, far away,” kicked off the first of its five days today in Chicago. AllEars.net Blogger Jeanine Yamanaka is attending the convention, and has sent in some exciting photos from the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge booth — well, you knew there had to be one, didn’t you?
Here’s a look at what she’s found so far.
The most exciting thing in the Galaxy’s Edge booth is our first look at a ride vehicle from the highly anticipated attraction Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
We can get a really good look at the seats and can see that each vehicle will hold eight passengers, and one pilot droid.
We can also see that there will be a control panel in front of each seat… with instructions in Aurebesh. Hope you’ve been brushing up on your intergalactic language skills!
In addition to this vehicle, the booth is also featuring the merchandise that will be available in Galaxy’s Edge. Disney has already released photos of some of it, but still it’s cool to see it up close and in person.
The merchandise displays will change each day to focus on specific Galaxy’s Edge shops. The emphasis in this first exhibit is on First Order Cargo and Resistance Supply.
The booth has a number of other props and displays, like this photo op below. We’ll share more photos from the booth in the coming days.
This certainly has us even more excited for the Galaxy’s Edge openings coming soon — May 31 at Disneyland and August 29 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios — although we realize that Rise of the Resistance won’t open until later in the year. Still, seeing the vehicle in the flesh, rather than just in artist concept sketches, makes it all seem so REAL! And we can’t wait to see the whole lands for ourselves.
Star Wars Celebration runs until April 15, and we hope for more surprises, and possibly some major announcements relating to Star Wars in the Disney Parks. Jeanine will be keeping us posted! We’ll also look forward to what she shares from the rest of the convention — the other exhibits, the show floor, celebrity guests, panels, autograph sessions, fan-inspired activities, costumes and more.
