When you visit Disney World, you can meet the man in charge!
Of course, we are talking about meeting the big cheese himself, Mickey Mouse. While Mickey is happy to meet you and your family, there are certain things that he’s just not allowed to do.
It can be exciting to meet Mickey Mouse! You can meet him at the following locations inside the Disney World parks:
- Town Square Theater in Magic Kingdom
- Magic Eye Theater in EPCOT
- Red Carpet Dreams in Hollywood Studios
- Adventurers Outpost in Animal Kingdom
You can also meet him at a variety of character dining locations in Disney World — including at Chef Mickey’s in the Contemporary Resort …
… and at Garden Grill in EPCOT.
We love seeing him in all his different outfits and having conversations with him! But it is important to remember that Mickey is not allowed to do certain things for your family pics. Here are five things that Mickey is not allowed to do when you meet him.
He Can’t Sign Anything on Your Body
Filling up your autograph book can be super fun or even getting Mickey to sign a frame or a water bottle. If you were looking to get Mickey to sign your body to sign your forearm, he can not. So stick with those autograph books or other keepsake items.

He Can’t Hold Your Baby
When meeting Mickey, he is not allowed to hold babies or children. This is done for not only the safety of Mickey but also the safety of your child. Don’t worry, you can still get super cute interaction photos, just not in Mickey’s arms.

Don’t Tell Mickey How to Pose
While you may want Mickey to pose a certain way with you, let Mickey guide you. He will choose the pose and help set you up for that perfect picture with him. This is done to protect Mickey from doing any suggestive or inappropriate posing.
Fry Bucket took on the challenge of meeting as many characters as she could in one day at Disney World — and she met 27! You can watch her video right here.
He Can’t “Give” You Gifts
It can create a great memory for Mickey to gift your child something, but don’t ask Mickey to give someone a gift. Even if you bring your gift for Mickey to give, he is not allowed to do so. Just skip the awkward “no” and don’t do this. Mickey needs to create magic for all guests and this would be unfair to those who do not “receive” a gift from Mickey himself.

Mickey Can’t Stick Around All Day
While Mickey is the boss, he has a busy schedule that sometimes pulls him away from meeting guests. He might need to go walk Pluto or maybe he has a date night with Minnie. Regardless, it is important to know that Mickey will not always be greeting you at the time you wish to visit him.
Trust us when we say that Mickey is just as excited to meet you as you are to meet him. But be sure to check your My Disney Experience app for updates on the times when Mickey will be available for meet-and-greets! Going in with expectations of what Mickey cannot do will help make your meet and greet even more magical.
