AllEars.Net had the opportunity to visit the Disney Wonder while it was in port in San Diego. In September and October of last year the Wonder underwent a dry-dock period in Spain that made significant changes to the kid's spaces, the adult entertainment district and converted the Parrot Cay restaurant into Tiana's Place, in addition to replacing carpet, furniture and other general upkeep. Lee Zimmerman shares his observations during his first chance to see the re-imagined ship.

After Hurricane Irma passed through the Walt Disney World area on September 10, all Disney theme parks and Disney Springs reopened on Tuesday, September 12. Most attractions and facilities are back up and running normally, with a few exceptions. Walt Disney World/My Disney Experience app/Park and Resort Notices are reporting the status of other areas as follows: -- Fort Wilderness is expected to reopen tomorrow, Sept. 20. -- Aerophile, the World Leader in Balloon Flight at Disney Springs is closed. -- The Jungle Cruise in the Magic Kingdom is closed until further notice. -- Splash Mountain is closed for its scheduled refurbishment. -- Disney's Hilton Head Resort reopened yesterday, Sept. 18. -- The Disney Fantasy's September 23 and October 7 sailings in the Eastern Caribbean are being modified to include ports of call in the Western Caribbean. These two revised sailings will now visit Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; and Falmouth, Jamaica. -- Disney Cruise Line's Western Caribbean sailings will continue as scheduled. The Walt Disney Company announced a commitment of $2.5 million to aid those impacted by Hurricane Irma. The funds will help the response and recovery efforts of the American Red Cross, UNICEF, Save the Children, and other nonprofits. In addition, eligible Disney employee donations to qualified organizations involved in the Hurricane Irma relief effort are being matched dollar for dollar by Disney Employee Matching Gifts: A Program of The Walt Disney Company Foundation. During Hurricane Irma, Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line donated meals, provided storage for supplies and power-utility vehicles, donated bedding to shelters, and made rooms available for first responders. As the recovery from Hurricane Irma's effects continues, we are now keeping an eye on Hurricane Maria, which as of this writing is a Category 5 storm in the Caribbean. For the latest on severe weather, be sure to consult with the National Hurricane Center, The Weather Channel, and Orlando news outlets. Our thoughts remain with those affected by the recent hurricanes, not only Irma, but also Harvey, Jose, Katia and Maria.

The Disney Parks Blog has revealed the complete roster of characters who will be on board for the Marvel Day at Sea on upcoming Disney cruises. Black Widow and Hawkeye will join this epic event, assembling with nearly a dozen others from the Marvel Universe, including Black Panther and Loki who will make their very first appearance as part of a Disney vacation experience. The event also marks the first official appearance of Iron Man, Star-Lord, Gamora and Groot on a Disney Cruise Line ship. Rounding out the roster of Marvel Super Heroes that will be onboard are Spider-Man, Captain America, Thor and Doctor Strange.

Beginning April 21, guests will be able to preview scenes from the upcoming film "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, and on the Disney Cruise Line. -- At Disney's Hollywood Studios, guests will get to see this advance look at clips from the film as part of the One Man's Dream attraction. -- At Disney California Adventure park, the preview of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" will be presented in 3D with special in-theater effects at the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land. -- On Disney Cruise Line, you can enjoy a sneak peek aboard all four ships in the fleet, on select sailings this summer. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" in 3D will be released in theaters across the U.S. on May 26, and will also premiere at sea aboard the ships of Disney Cruise Line on that date.

Disney Cruise Line will add even more fun on the Disney Fantasy when it goes into drydock. Among the enhancements: In Disney's Oceaneer Club, the new Star Wars: Command Post will allow kids to interact with holographic models at a one of-a-kind Star Wars holotable. In addition, at the all-new Marvel Super Hero Academy, kids will learn from real-life Super Heroes, including Doctor Strange, the heroic values of enlightenment, worthiness and loyalty. Families can enjoy the new Sweet on You ice cream shop, themed after the iconic Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts. And for the first time, Disney Cruise Line will welcome the world's premier jewelry and iconic American luxury brand, Tiffany and Co. These enhancements debut on Disney Fantasy sailings starting May 17, 2017, from Port Canaveral.

Ten staterooms aboard the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder are going to be converted from Category 4 Staterooms into Category V Concierge Family Oceanview Staterooms with Verandas. The furnishings and amenities will be upgraded by October 1, 2017, on the Disney Wonder and October 2, 2017, on the Disney Magic. If you have existing reservations in these staterooms you can enjoy the upgraded stateroom amenities once onboard. However, in order to protect the concierge category, those previously booked at the category 4 rate are not eligible for pre-cruise or onboard concierge service, including access to the concierge lounge.

In 2018, Marvel Day at Sea will be expanded to include the Disney Magic during eight voyages from Miami. The event features all-day entertainment including interactions with Marvel Super Heroes and their foes, a themed deck party, youth activities, special merchandise and unique food and beverage offerings. Also featured are exclusive at-sea screenings of fan-favorite films from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including the newest theatrical releases, as well as viewings of the Disney XD shows Marvel's Avengers Assemble, Marvel's Ultimate Spider-Man and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy. The new 2018 Marvel Day at Sea sailings depart from Miami on Jan. 7, 21; Feb. 4, 18; March 18; April 1, 15 and 29. In addition to these Miami sailings, Marvel Day at Sea from New York will be on seven- and eight-night Disney Magic Bahamian cruises departing on Oct. 6, 14, 28; Nov. 4, 11 and 18, 2017; and Marvel Day at Sea will be on one seven-night Canadian Coast cruise departing from New York on Oct. 21, 2017.
