Tonight we will be exploring the planet of Batuu and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge!
Finally, we will be sipping on Blue Milk just like Luke Skywalker, we’ll build droids and lightsabers, ride the Millennium Falcon, and maybe even see a familiar face or two.
Follow along with us as we wander around this all-new land at the Disneyland Resort. Are you ready to set foot in the remote village known as Black Spire Outpost along with the rest of the planet of Batuu?
SPOILER ALERT! We are sharing loads of details, so if you want to be surprised when you visit Galaxy’s Edge, turn back now!
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will OFFICIALLY open in Disneyland on May 31. But we’re lucky to have been granted travel to this galaxy far, far away a little early as we are here for a special media-only event! We will be here today and tomorrow and of course on the opening day, Friday!
We will be updating this post throughout the next few days so check back for updates!Â
Galaxy’s Edge Background
A few fun facts we learned at the panel discussion held for the media today: The atmosphere for Galaxy’s Edge is based on an original Ralph McQuarrie design. McQuarrie was an Academy Award-winning designer and illustrator who worked on the original Star Wars trilogy. About 80 percent of the new land was inspired by places like Turkey and Istanbul. Other inspiration came from the Petrified Forest in Arizona!
Getting into Galaxy’s Edge
As a reminder, from May 31 – June 23, you will need a reservation as well as park admission in order to access the land. You can still obtain a reservation during these dates by staying at a Disneyland resort. Starting June 24 a virtual queue system will begin.
Don’t forget!! On August 29, you will be able to experience all that Galaxy’s Edge has to offer at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Are you ready to pilot the Millennium Falcon with us?
When you enter the queue, be on the lookout for where Han Solo kisses Leia. And you’ll even see Hondo Ohnaka.Â
Just look at all the details… we’re really in the hologram chess room straight from the movies!
Let your senses be your guide as you listen and smell your way through the queue.
This attraction lets you take on one of three critical roles while on the Millennium Falcon. You can either be a pilot, flight engineer, or gunner.
There will be two of each role, as six people can fit in the ride vehicle.
So cool, right?
Check out our full review of the attraction, with lots of photos — and spoilers! — here!
Oga’s Cantina
Run by Oga Garra who is the “boss of the Black Spire Outpost underworld” Oga’s Cantina will be serving up concoctions for the everyone from Mom and Dad to the little one.
This place has a history of being a smuggler’s safe-haven, so be on the lookout for unsavory characters.
We sipped on a few delicious cocktails in search of which one was our favorite while listening to DJ R-3X mix some tunes.
This was a really busy spot, so if you plan on visiting make sure you allot enough time to wait and to enjoy all the cantina has to offer!
We have a full review of Oga’s Cantina with more photos here!
Milk Stand
Here is where you will find the long-awaited Blue Milk.
And Green Milk, too!
We were surprised when it came to flavor as these were a bit blander than we anticipated.
But, heck we’re still sipping on the same drink as Luke Skywalker… so we’re pretty happy!
Kat Saka’s Kettle
Pop in for a quick bite of Outpost Mix at Kat Saka’s.
We loved the mix of sweet and savory and cannot wait to give more flavors a try.
They should soon be serving separate sweet, spicy, and savory flavors!
Remember, you can also order ahead by using Mobile Order at this location along with the Milk Stand and Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo.
AND…this is THE place to find your thermal detonator Coca-Cola bottles! Remember, though, you can only buy three maximum!
Read more about the treats you’ll find at Milk Stand and Kat Saka’s Kettle here!
Docking Bay 7 Food & Cargo
This quick service location is run by Chef Strono “Cookie” Tuggs. And all of his meals and dishes were created during his time working for Maz Kanata on Takodana.
You’ll be able to dine here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Here you will find options that you can’t find anywhere else on the planet of Batuu like Fried Endorian Yip-Tip and the Felucian Garden Spread.
We were surprised that this location and most other’s in Galaxy’s Edge aren’t labeled, so we were just kind of wandering around trying to figure out where we were at times.
Ronto Roasters
Have you ever wanted to try Ronto meat? Well, now you can!
Ronto Roasters BBQ pit is powered by a large podracing engine. You’ll see it being turned by a former smelter droid, 8D-J8.
One dish you’ll have to try is the Ronto Wrap… though we were surprised to find that Ronto tastes a lot like a hot dog.

Droid Depot
This is another customizable location where you can build an R-droid or a BB-droid.
Work on a conveyer belt as you follow instructions on how to piece your new sidekick together.
And remember, we will be updating you with more photos and information as we can. So check back here to learn all about the planet of Batuu and to see what Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has to offer.
