Balloons have a certain power about them. They can stop a child from crying, bend and twist into the shape of poodles, and take you high into the sky where all of your worries vanish with the possible exception of where to land. Latex in pastels, jewel tones, polka dots, bold primary colors or with special messages written upon them brighten up special occasions and dreary hospital rooms. They are magical. It’s hard to consider the fact that something so happy and fun can ever have an off-day.

Mickey’s still smiling for you even if he is feeling, well, a bit deflated.
