It’s no secret that Disney World is EXPENSIVE.
Seriously, you even start looking at the prices of the hotel stay or the tickets you’ll need and it’s abundantly clear that your trip will cost a pretty penny. But what do you end up spending the MOST on during your vacation? We asked our readers and got your honest answers!
We took to Facebook to ask our readers if they spent more on dining or souvenirs during their trip, and the answers revealed that most Disney fans spend WAY more on dining.
But why is this when we’re so tempted by Disney’s merchandise all the time? Some readers said that they do find themselves spending money on souvenirs, especially when they’re things they collect like ears or pins.
However, many of our readers also shared that they don’t feel as pulled to merchandise anymore. Some said it’s because they don’t want more clutter in their house/clothes in their closet, while others said they feel the creativity of the merchandise has really taken a dive recently.
So why does dining win out? Well, people love food — it’s that simple! Some guests love returning to their favorite restaurants over and over again to make new memories, while others love trying new places they never have before.
Plus, if you’re someone who loves EPCOT, there’s almost always a festival going on. All those food booths take some $$$ to get through, and those menus often change from year to year.

I agree with the observation that the Merch designs are not very inspired in the parks. I find cuter and more imaginative shirts etc. online, like here on the food blog (I am some people shirt—classic!) but, pre-pandemic it seemed they had better designs for Merch.
