Even though Disneyland's official 50th anniversary isn't until July 17, the "Happiest Homecoming on Earth" kicked off on 05/05/05 (that's 50/50/50 backwards). ALL EARS® west coast correspondents Laura Gilbreath and Lee Zimmerman visited the park to get a first-hand look at the changes and special events that are part of the 50th anniversary celebration.

The Disneyland park itself has been extensively dressed up. There are gold accents and decorations everywhere, and the number "50" is prominently displayed (and appropriately themed, of course!) throughout the park.

There's a new parade, called "Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams", and a new fireworks show called "Remember... Dreams Come True."

The Main Street Opera House features a new attraction called "Disneyland - The First 50 Magical Years" with artwork and scale models on display. In the theater there's a movie on the construction and history of the early years of Disneyland.
