Just Out: Teaser Trailer for Disney’s Live-Action “Aladdin”

Disney’s “Aladdin,” the story of the charming “street rat” and the high-energy Genie (voiced by the late Robin Williams), won the hearts of millions when it debuted in 1992. It is now being filmed by director Guy Ritchie as a live-action movie starring Will Smith as the larger-than-life Genie.

Along with Smith, the cast includes: Mena Massoud as Aladdin; Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine; Marwan Kenzari as Jafar, the sorcerer; and Navid Negahban as the Sultan. Alan Menken provides the score, which includes new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and lyricists Howard Ashman and Tim Rice, as well as two new songs written by Menken and songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (“La La Land,” “The Greatest Showman”). The film, which was shot on practical stages in London and on location amidst the desert vistas of Jordan, is due in theaters May 24, 2019.
