On your marks, get set, race! Walt Disney World just released important information and dates about the 2025 runDisney Marathon Weekend.
You might be thinking that it is still the beginning of March, but planning ahead for runDisney Weekends is a necessity so let’s get into all the details.
Event Overview
The 2025 runDisney Marathon Weekend will be taking place from January 8th through the 12th, 2025. Throughout the weekend, there will be four races and a runDisney Health & Fitness Expo. In addition to the four races, there are also two challenges you can compete in.
We also found out the theme for next year’s events! The 2025 runDisney Marathon Weekend is focusing on “vintage athletics with a nostalgic Disney twist.” It looks like we are getting a blast from the past with the theming, and we are already loving Mickey and Minnie’s adorable tracksuits.
As you run your way through Disney World you will find all sorts of touches inspired by the classic Disney era. Each race will have whimsical character favorites, musical entertainment, and more along the course.
Registration for Club runDisney Gold and Platinum members begins April 2nd, 2024, while general registration opens on April 9th, 2024, at 10AM ET. These events usually sell out very quickly, so if you are hoping to participate, make sure you sign up right away.
Now let’s see what races are in store for us in 2025!
Walt Disney World 5K
The first race you can sign up for is the 5K race. This event features Pluto and will have you running 3.1 miles in hopes of finally getting that bone! The race will be taking place on January 9th, 2025, beginning at 5AM.
The cost for this race is $112 before October 7th, 2024, and $122 for registrations after October 8th, 2024.
Walt Disney World 10K
Next up is the 10K race featuring Chip & Dale! This race is 6.2 miles of fun alongside the adorable duo. The 10K race will take place on January 10th, 2025, beginning at 5AM.
The cost for this race is $155 before October 7th, 2024, and $164 for registrations after October 8th, 2024.
Walt Disney World Half Marathon
The Half Marathon features Donald Duck and Daisy Duck, and they look great in their vintage running gear. You can run 13. 1 miles with Donald and Daisy Duck on January 11th, 2025, beginning at 5AM.
The cost for this race is $224 before October 7th, 2024, and $234 for registrations after October 8th, 2024.
Walt Disney World Marathon
The final race is the marathon. This race features Mickey and Minnie and will have you covering 26.2 miles through all four parks. The marathon is on January 12th, 2025, beginning at 5AM.
The cost for this race is $226 before October 7th, 2024, and $236 for registrations after October 8th, 2024.
Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge
Next up are the two different challenges you can take part in. The first one is the Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge. As the name suggests, you can complete this challenge by completing the half marathon and the full marathon for a total of 39.3 miles. These events take place on January 11th and 12th, 2025. When you complete this challenge you will receive medals from both races, as well as a special challenge medal.
The cost for this challenge, which includes both the half marathon and full marathon races, is $442 before October 7th, 2024, and $452 for registrations after October 8th, 2024.
Dopey Challenge
The second, and most daunting, challenge is the Dopey Challenge. This is the ultimate challenge as it means completing all four races of the weekend. You will run a total of 48.6 miles over the weekend and will receive all four individual race medals, the Goofy’s Race and a Half medal, as well as a Dopey Challenge medal. That means you will be wearing six race medals by the end of race weekend.
The cost for this challenge, which includes all four races, is $688 before October 7th, 2024, and $698 for registrations after October 8th, 2024.
