Breaking Down Walt Disney World’s Annual Passholder Discounts and Perks

Walt Disney World is a wonderful place to visit, and you may very well wish to come again and again. For frequent visitors to the parks who purchase an Annual Pass, Disney offers special membership options with extra benefits that you might find useful during your vacations.

Annual Passholder Magnet

An Annual Pass lets you visit all four parks (when they’re all open) and features the Parkhopper option to visit more than one park per day. The Annual Pass has numerous benefits, so let’s explore all the different discounts and other benefits it offers for your Disney World visits.

Purchasing and Renewing the Annual Pass

You can purchase Annual Passes by ordering online or by calling (407) WDW-PASS or (407) 939-7277 for more information. There are multiple versions of the Annual Pass, each with its own price and benefits. The Platinum Pass is $1,195, while the Platinum Plus Pass costs $1,295. Both passes offer many of the same benefits, but while the regular Platinum just allows admission for one year to the main four theme parks, Platinum Plus also lets you gain admission to other Disney World sites such as the water parks, Oak Trail Golf Course, and ESPN Wide World of Sports. There’s also a Water Parks Annual Pass (one year’s admission to the water parks), which costs $139.

Here are current prices and savings for the annual passes.

Florida residents can also purchase the separate but mostly similar Florida Resident Annual Pass, which also has several options: Gold, Platinum, Platinum Plus, and Silver/Seasonal. All of the Passes let you get into the different parks like the other Annual Passes. Gold costs just $719, but it restricts your visits to the Disney World parks to outside of specific blockout dates. Platinum costs $899, and Platinum Plus costs $999; they essentially cover the same benefits as their standard equivalents, and they do not have blockout dates. The seasonal, Silver option costs $539, and it has a wide blockout period where you cannot visit Disney World: June 1 – August 6, 2020, and December 18, 2020 – January 2, 2021. Additional blockout dates might also apply.

Florida is a beautiful state that many call home, and Florida residents can purchase their own version of the annual pass.

If you already have the Annual Pass and want it to continue past the first year, you can renew at any time, with the renewal Pass starting on the date your previous pass expires. If you’ve linked your Pass(es), you can easily renew via the My Disney Experience app by selecting the My Tickets option. You can also renew online, renew at a Disney World park ticket window or at Disney Springs guest relations, or call (407) 560-PASS or (407) 560-7277. If you renew the Annual Passholder membership by 30 days after it expires, you’ll even receive a discount of up to 15% off. So don’t forget to check when yours expires. If you’ve linked your Annual Pass to your Disney account, you can check your expiration date on the My Disney Experience App under My Profile or My Reservations.

Linking Annual Passes with My Disney Experience App

To make your use of the Annual Passholder benefits easier, you should link your pass with your My Disney Experience app. To do so, simply sign into your Disney account, find the linking page here, and enter the ID number found on your Pass(es).

The My Disney Experience app is very helpful, and linking it up with your annual pass will certainly come in handy.

If you linked an Annual Pass to the wrong person in your party, please go to My Reservations on the My Disney Experience app, tap on the respective pass, and choose to reassign the ticket. You cannot reassign a Pass online if it has already been used to enter a Disney park.

Go to the My Reservation section to fix any problems with your annual pass linking.

After you have linked your pass, go to My Profile or My Reservations to see your pass listed. Please note that the water park Annual Pass only shows up on My Reservations.

PhotoPass

To help you capture all your happy memories at the parks, Disney offers PhotoPass, which lets you view all your pictures online for free, including special ones taken at certain locations throughout Disney World. But while you can view them online for free, the downloads typically cost money – unless you have an Annual Pass, that is.

The various pictures you get with PhotoPass can be priceless mementos for your magical Disney World experience.

Annual Passholders receive free unlimited downloads if they are Platinum, Platinum Plus, or Gold. To utilize this benefit, you’ll need to link your Annual Pass to your Disney account via the My Disney Experience app. Once you’ve done that, you can view and download them from My Disney Experience in the Photos & Videos section.

Parking

When you pay for an Annual Pass at Disney World, parking fees at the parks are covered in the package. That means you can park in any of the four Disney World theme parks without having to pay extra for the standard $25 parking fee. In addition, Annual Passholders can also get preferred parking, normally $45-$50, for a price equaling the difference in price between preferred and standard parking, presently saving you approximately $25.

Resort Discounts

The diverse and immersive resorts at Walt Disney World are all a marvel and joy to behold, and the Annual Pass can make your stay there easier and cheaper. Discounts vary throughout the year, with special, seasonal discounts appearing at different times annually. Typically, you can book rooms at select Disney World resorts and save up to 35% on the price. You can get more details when you book rooms here.

Walt Disney World has many wonderfully beautiful resorts, and annual passholder discounts can help you afford them.

Also, the Beach Club Resort, the Contemporary Resort, the Grand Floridian Resort, and the Yacht Club Resort all offer poolside cabana rentals and specialty cruises, which have their own Passholder discounts. Cabana rentals are 15% off, while the cruises are 10% off.

Dining Discounts

At select dining locations across the Walt Disney World resorts, theme parks, and shopping centers, the Annual Pass lets you get discounts ranging from 10% to 20% off. Most dining discounts are 10%, with a few being 15% or 20% (note that all the 15-20% discounts are found at Disney Springs locations). While the exact details vary for each dining opportunity, the discounts generally apply to the Annual Passholder and up to three other guests. Also, many restaurant discounts only apply for certain meals such as lunch and dinner, and special events and dining packages disqualify the discount. In addition, generally only non-alcoholic foods and beverages count towards the discount.

Parties and Other Special Events

Throughout the year, Walt Disney World hosts many spectacular festivals, parties, and other special events. As with many other things, being an Annual Passholder can come in handy if you want to attend some of these awesome events. Sometimes entirely new events will come to Disney World, including ones exclusive for the Annual Passholders. Therefore, sure to check if upcoming events during your vacation have annual pass discounts. Here are a few of the many yearly events that have Annual Passholder discounts:

Flower and Garden Festival Kermit Topiary 2020
All sorts of fun festivals occur throughout each year, so be sure to check which ones coincide with your visit to Disney World.

Disney Villains After Hours– Magic Kingdom’s Disney Villains After Hours lets you get $30 off per ticket when you have an Annual Pass, assuming you buy tickets in advance. Please note that you can’t receive a discount on the day of the event, so make sure you order ahead of time.

With nightfall, the villains come out for terrorizing but thrilling misrule.

Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival– The Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival, running from March to June annually, offers not only discounts for Annual Passholders, but other bonuses, too. The Garden Rocks Concert Series dining package is 10% off, offering a great deal to both eat and enjoy a nightly concert. Likewise, the festival’s Behind the Seeds and Gardens of World tours are 15% off. But that’s not all – you can get $20% off on festival merchandise, including souvenirs exclusive to Annual Passholders. What’s more, you can purchase two special, festival-themed magnets (Donald Duck and Orange Bird); please note that each Passholder may only take one of each type of magnet.

These fun and colorful badges are exclusive to annual passholders at Epcot’s 2020 Flower & Garden Festival.

H2O Glow Nights– Taking place from May 27 to August 29, 2020 at Typhoon Lagoon water park, the H2O Glow Nights will feature special lighting effects, Toy Story character greetings, limited time foods and beverages, a Glow-themed wristband, and much more. And not only will the Annual Passholder membership take $5 off each advance ticket, but you’ll be able to enter Typhoon Lagoon at 6:00 p.m., two hours ahead of the main event.

If you like water parks and late-night partying, you’ll love H2O Glow.

Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party– Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party has $5 off ticket discounts for select nights.

Water Park Discounts

Regular theme parks aren’t the only kind of park at Walt Disney World – there are also a couple of water parks, such as Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. These water parks also have their own discounts. The Water Parks Annual Pass, letting you access the water parks for a year, costs just $139.

Go for a splash at Blizzard Beach, and save money with an annual pass.

In addition, 1-day water park tickets cost only $49 with the Annual Pass discount, which saves up to $20 per adult tickets and $10 per child tickets. Please note that you cannot purchase the 1-day tickets online; you must buy them on-site at the water parks. These discounts work for you and up to 3 other guests.

Running Events

Disney World hosts multiple runDisney marathon events each year, and Annual Passholders are able to register early, before standard registration opens. That way, you can ensure you get a spot in the marathon. Upcoming running marathons at Disney World include the 2021 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend and the 2021 Star Wars Rival Run Weekend.

Disney-style marathons are great exercise and lots of fun.

Please note that you must be at least 18 years old to qualify for early registration, and your registration fees cannot be refunded. Only a limited number of people are allowed to register early, and you’ll need to register via a special Annual Passholder application here.

Institute Courses

It’s a little known fact, but Disney Institutes host collaborative and dynamic professional career development courses for those interested in advancing their business and leadership pathways. Topics include Disney’s approaches to leadership excellence, employee engagement, quality service, and business excellence, helping you learn how Disney continues to succeed on the global market. And as an Annual Passholder, you can get 15% off these invaluable courses.

Car Rental Discounts

If you’re traveling to Orlando from a long distance, you might want to rent a car, and the Annual Pass offers discounts for car rentals, assuming you rent from Alamo. Annual Passholders can get up to 10% off the base rate price for Alamo car rentals. The exact discount depends on location, rental date, and vehicle type. Currently, the discount is valid for rentals made before December 31, 2019. Please note that additional charges outside the standard rental fee (taxes, airport fees, 1-way charges, CDW, etc.) won’t qualify for the discount. Discount rentals have limited availability, so reserve online or contact Alamo by phone at (800) 462-5266.

Pet Care

We know that for many people, pets are like part of the family, so why leave them out of your Disney fun? Even if they can’t go to the parks with you, they can still enjoy a terrific vacation at the Best Friends pet resort. The pet care center offers Annual Pass discounts for their cat, dog, and pocket pet standard rates. You can reserve your pet’s stay at 877-493-9738.

Special Accessories

In addition to all the discounts and other various perks to being an Annual Passholder, sometimes registering or renewing an Annual Pass can offer its own rewards. Just having started this January, Disney is now offering a unique Minnie Mouse MagicBand, exclusive to annual passholders. You can get it wherever MagicBands are normally sold. Other exclusive models are offered throughout the year, so be sure to check for updates on the newest special offers. You can also order and customize your MagicBand here.
