This weekend saw Disneyland Paris host its first-ever half marathon, with TV personality Michelle Heaton, models Ashley James and Amy Willerton, fashion designer Henry Holland, TV presenter AJ Odudu and the event’s ambassador Paula Radcliffe, who all successfully completed the 13.1-mile race through Disneyland Paris’s two parks as well as the surrounding villages.
Michelle, Ashley, Amy, Henry and AJ were also able to experience some of the big thrills and magical entertainment that Disneyland Paris has to offer, throughout the weekend. On Friday evening the group enjoyed the Inaugural Party at Walt Disney Studios Park, in which they got to mingle with Disney Characters and enjoyed exclusive access to the park and attractions such as The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Ratatouille, Rock ‘n’ Rollercoaster and Toy Soldiers Parachute Drop as they remained open after-hours especially for event participants.
Mickey Mouse in his running gear was also on hand on Saturday morning to take pictures with the celebrities, giving them some last minute marathon motivation. The attendees had a chance to dance along with all of their favourite Disney Characters during Disney Magic on Parade! before enjoying the thrilling dinnertime show Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show in Disney Village.
The half marathon was just one of a number of events that made up Disneyland Paris’s Inaugural Half Marathon Weekend, which was organised with the support of runDisney and its successful 20 years’ experience in staging extremely popular running events at the US Disney theme parks. And participants certainly enjoyed miles of smiles with races leading through fairytale landscapes and beloved Disney Characters cheering runners along the route, making this a uniquely magical and unforgettable event for all.
