We’re Trying Pot Pie and Potato Gratin at a FROZEN Royal Banquet!

We got to check out at a NEW Disney restaurant at Tokyo DisneySea!

Royal Banquet of Arendelle

Tokyo DisneySea’s new Fantasy Springs land is finally ready to open after years of construction and COVID-delays. The new section of the park features mini-lands full of new attractions, restaurants and shops based on Peter Pan, Tangled, and today’s topic: Frozen.

One of the most anticipated parts of the new Frozen mini-land is the new full-scale Royal Banquet of Arendelle restaurant, which puts guests right in the midst of the Queen Elsa’s domain for a scrumptious meal.

The restaurant, themed as being inside the Arendelle royal palace, has a regal flair that captures the visual aesthetic of the films.

The dining areas are decorated with framed images and furnishings that appear like they were taken right out of the films, including the Nokk from Frozen II.

The restaurant’s food service counter carries on the theme. It was here that we picked up our meal…

… and noted one of the cutest thematic details in the whole restaurant.

“Do you want to have a picnic?”

We were able to try the Arendelle Royal Set, which includes smoked salmon, trout, and orange salad, potato gratin, a beef pie, bread, Olaf’s Marshmallow Cocoa Mousse, plus a choice of soft drink.

We dug into the pot pie’s flaky crust to find tender beef in a rich gravy, with soft vegetables inside as well. That said, overall we’d call the pie a middle-of-the-road option. Not bad by any means, but not great either.

The Beef Pot Pie

The potato gratin comes in its own little crock. We enjoyed this side, as it combined three soft baby potatoes cooked to perfection, covered in a creamy sauce and crunchy layer on top, making it a great savory side option.

The Potato Gratin

We definitely preferred the gratin over the salad, as the flavor of the smoked salmon was a strange combo the orange, creating an odd clash of flavors between the saltiness of the salmon and acidity of the orange.

The Salmon Salad

The Olaf-themed dessert is just adorable to look at. The mochi had a delicious lemony flavor that played well against the flavor of the mousse.

“Do you want to eat a snowman?”

The Royal Banquet’s theming went beyond the decor however, as even the tray our food was served on…

…and the Fantasy Springs placemats were perfectly at home in the restaurant.

(Sidenote, the backside of the placemat is equally as adorable, and full of little Fantasy Springs easter eggs for Disney fans)

The restaurant also has a special exclusive souvenir available…

… a set of collectible silverware commemorating Queen Elsa’s coronation. This item is reminiscent of the real ceremonial souvenirs that were available for many European monarch’s coronations throughout the 18th century.
