Walt Disney World’s Skyliner gondola system has been up and running for just one week, and tonight it has experienced its first major incident.
Twitter lit up with Disney World guests who were posting from gondolas that had stopped on the Riviera to Epcot line — specifically proximate to the turn station near BoardWalk Inn and Villas. The stopped line happened simultaneous to a visible pile-up of gondolas at the Riviera Resort station.
BREAKING: There has been a crash at the Riviera Resort Disney Skyliner station. Guests have been stuck on the system for over an hour and 10 minutes with no help. If anyone who is stuck sees this Tweet, there is an emergency kit under the bench. I think there is water in the kit. pic.twitter.com/oWgr5mTmFo

Twitter user GoodeDisneyDays posted video of a Reedy Creek Fire Department evacuating guests left dangling in gondolas. Stranded passengers were reporting a stoppage of 2+ hours at time of publication. It has also been reported that Disney is encouraging riders to use the emergency kits found under the Skyliner’s benches. These kits reportedly include water bottles and cooling cloths.

Update 10:30PM: Orlando Sentinel is now reporting that Disney has confirmed there is an issue and that “there’s no reported injuries.” The newspaper cites social media posts calling the incident “a power failure.”
Update 11:09PM: Twitter user Aaron Murray (@WaltyDis) now reporting that his gondola is moving slowly on the Epcot to Riviera line near the BoardWalk turn station.

Any confirmation that some guests were rescued via zipline?
Sounds like a premium experience worthy of upcharge.
Well played!
Any proof that the photograph of the “pile up” is from tonight? Who took it?

Definitely is. I’m here now, staying at Boardwalk. Saw the fire trucks and could hear the commotion
Yikes, this is bad!
We were stuck Monday night for 30 minutes without explanation but no injuries that I am aware of.
